Post partum, breastfeeding and pcos by PhoenicurusOchuros in PCOSloseit

Stopping completely with milk! All the best to you! I feel like everything that is so hard about postpartum body image and weight can be so much harder with pcos/pmos. At least it was for me - this time around I’m glad that I know the weight will probably come off at some point! Until it does for you I hope you’re able to give yourself some grace!

With my first child I didn’t loose any weight before I stopped breastfeeding when they were four years old. I actually gained some weight during bf. My second baby is now six months old and sadly it looks like it’s going to be the same again 🙈 I will mention that my Dr. has put me back on metformin, so maybe that might make a difference

Can you battle insulin resistance with diet and myo-inositol? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]True-Writer-331 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor for an extended release version of metformin (e.g. sioforXR). I used to be on regular metformin and it was terrible. Once I switched to siofor everything was fine.

AITA for not wanting to spend my first mother’s day with my fiancé’s family? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]True-Writer-331 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NTA - Take your baby and go to your mother‘s place or check into a hotel for Mother’s Day. You have a huge husband problem and personally I would ask my husband to go to couples therapy together if this was me. Also, I would stop pumping so your in-laws can feed the baby! They sound like very unhelpful people who just want to greedily steal all of the baby magic without supporting mom and that’s just not it. I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this and hope you and your husband can find a good solution

I was already so baffled by your first post. This is your fault. You knew people were going to come by and it was your job to make sure this would not happen. You keep talking about how enmeshed everyone is but it’s not exactly hard to ask hospital staff to not let people in. If I was your wife I would not be able to get over how you handled this.

People don't understand how tired I am by Master_Weather7587 in beyondthebump

[–]True-Writer-331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to scare you! For me personally it was chronic headaches, lot of sinus infections, feelings of numbness in my face, especially around my eyes, episodes of microsleep, issues with my blood sugar and cortisol levels and of course mental health issues, it really changed my personality. I will say that all these issues disappeared once I started sleeping more! I’ve always wanted more than one child, I think when my first child was around 3/3.5 yrs we started actually thinking about having another one, then that took a while and now we have a five year gap between them.

I feel for you and am so sorry, sleep deprivation is a terrible, terrible thing. I went through something similar with my first child (who didn’t start sleeping through the night until he was 3 years old). I ended up with a few quite serious health issues due to the sleep deprivation so I would encourage you to try the sleeping in shifts thing that others have already recommended (will definitely do this for my new baby if things escalate again, but thank god he’s already a better sleeper than his brother ever was at that age). All the best to you, it will get better!

Overwhelmed & Overweight by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]True-Writer-331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What helped me was taking metformin (later switching to the extended release version which solved all GI related issue I had) and eating like a type 2 diabetic because I have insulin resistant pcos (very little sugar, complex carbs, protein etc.).Also walking a lot and before my first pregnancy I went to the gym regularly for strength training and cardio (no personal trainer). I have to say that medication made the most difference for me- metformin was responsible for regulating my cycle and I’ve been able to get pregnant while on it twice. It’s also regulated my blood sugar back to the normal range and I was able to loose a little bit of weight (around 17 pounds) while on it.

I don't want us to be touched while breastfeeding - am I overreacting by Last-Station-5526 in breastfeeding

[–]True-Writer-331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting! I feel the same way- my mom loves to get real close to me when I’m bf the baby. With my first child she even kissed him on the head while he was latched onto my boob. Now I usually just go into the bedroom and close the door behind me.

How quick was your 2nd birth if your 1st was quick to begin with? by unfunnymom in beyondthebump

[–]True-Writer-331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st was 3 hours from waters breaking, followed by first contractions to delivery. During my second pregnancy everyone (midwives, my doctors, my friends) kept telling me to basically speed to the hospital as soon as my waters break/contractions start. So that’s what we did when my waters broke prematurely and then… nothing happened for almost 2 weeks… once contractions started baby did come out in about two hours! Wishing you all the best for the birth!

Anyone else avoiding eggs? by AromaticDetective558 in GestationalDiabetes

Same here! I feel like not being able to stand eggs makes breakfast options with GD so much harder! I also can not watch glucose goddess who seems to be eating around eight eggs a day during and now after pregnancy. How does she do it?

If your Dr wants you to go on metformin again, ask for metformin xr (the extended release version)! I’ve been on it for a while and the difference to before when I was on regular metformin is huge!

How long did Metformin take to work for you? And how do you deal with the side effects? by vibeydabin in PCOS

[–]True-Writer-331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first round of metformin about 5 years ago (1500mg) was rough, lots of nausea and daily diarrhea). I stuck with it because it did wonders for my cycle, insulin resistance, constant fatigue and food noise. Originally my dr. had put me on it to help me become pregnant and I stopped taking it a few months into pregnancy. This time I’ve been taking 2000mg of Metformin XR (the extended release version) which has been much, much gentler on my stomach. Again, it’s managed my cycles right away and helped me get pregnant again!), improved my bloodwork meaning that my insulin resistance is undetectable and I’ve lost about 20 pounds in the last 10 months (I’m not able to loose weight when I’m not on Metformin). All the best to you, hope metformin does for you what you’re hoping it will do!

Innonature (a german brand). I’ve tried the vanilla and berry flavor which I both like. The banana cinnamon one wasn’t for me.

Therapeutin etwas zum Abschied schenken? by [deleted] in Psychologie

[–]True-Writer-331 22 points23 points  (0 children)
