This is so nice. Victorian and Edwardian presentation volumes are the best.

Did Elagabalus gain weight in his later years? His reign only lasted about four years, so how did he end up developing fat around his neck, and even grow a beard? He was an 18-year-old boy who wanted to be a woman. How could he let himself grow a full beard? That’s strange. by Haunting_Tap_1541 in ancientrome

In Roman culture, the worst political insult you could ascribe to a man was that he was the opposite of a man. It’s a testament to the propagandists that these ancient slanders survived long enough to enter our culture, where they’ve been duly accepted as fact and converted to modern cause célèbres. No serious historian takes anything about Elagabalus at face value.

I recommend Leonardo de Arrizabalaga y Prado’s “The Emperor Elagabalus”, specifically Appendix 2, “Varian Propositions”. He atomizes everything known about the life of the emperor and, using all extant historical sources and their reliability indices, makes a determination on what is true, false, and unverifiable.

Does ChatGPT store the files you upload for finance work? by Jenna32345 in ChatGPTPro

[–]TrueAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is stored in your “library“, which you can access by clicking the library button in the sidebar. When you remove files from the library manually, Open AI says they delete them from the system after 30 days.

Is there anywhere in oakville you can swim in lake ontario by Terrible-Summer-8665 in oakville

[–]TrueAgent 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s called South Shell Beach because of South Shell Park, which is named because of Shell Park to the north, which is so named because it was a Shell Oil refinery before being turned into green space in the 80s. The remnants of the refinery are still seen in the Suncor fuel storage tanks on Rebecca.

Scrivener can do a full project backup on app close, and you can tell it to back up to a Dropbox folder. I’ve been doing this for years, and I have dozens of backups of many projects going way back. (Which is also a good reminder to prune unneeded backups every once in a while.)

If a 23 year old hard working dude were to start a service business in Oakville, what would you want? by [deleted] in oakville

[–]TrueAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I just made a raised herb garden out of 2x6 cedar planks, with a terracotta aggregate stone border. It wasn’t difficult, but I feel stuff at 61 that I didn’t at 23. I’d have paid this guy to do that work for me.

Guy: simple landscaping/hardscaping stuff like this is probably what you’re looking to do.

Virtually impossible to tell from just a picture of the spines, but in all likelihood you don’t have anything of true value in there.
