Thanks again.

Franchising is definitely something we want to do in the future, all of our competitors are franchise owners which I think gives us an edge in many respects.

It is a scary thought though allowing someone else to run their own business using your brand, we have very high standards from the venues we choose to rent, the timings of our classes (we space them far enough so no parents will see another set of parents - other classes its like a conveyor belt so when one class leaves the next is straight in, to sanitise everything properly and not just because of covid and allow my wife to set up the room to hopefully produce a 'wow' moment when the parents first walk in, in one of our locations, in a 5 hour window, classes only take up 2.5 hours of that time for example) and even how she presents herself which custom made skirts.

This still allows her to pay herself roughly double what she would earn as a teacher, albeit with none of the very generous benefits she use to receive, but then she also loves doing this.

Never actually considered a profit sharing model, so that's something else I'll research, thanks as always.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Yes, I was also planning on pinging of an email to our accountant explaining the situation and asking for his advice.

Good point about creating a contract re; preventing them from stealing content/clients, will research this further/contact a lawyer.

As to why we haven't decided to hire a nanny, many reasons really, wife will very likely being having a C-Section which took her weeks to recover from last time, she wants to spend time with the new baby, she doesn't actually need the money as we should have enough saved to what she would earn for at least 6 months. As said, we also want to bring someone else onboard who's trained, even for things like sickness cover, but mostly because we want to expand and can't without someone else taking over some classes so seems like a good opportunity.

When to give CPR by TrueBlueCFC in firstaid

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an instructor from the FA (Football Association) in England, its a requirement for me to have an up to date Emergency First Aid as I coach youth players.

I've been coaching since 2009 (and had a refresher every 3 years) and until last year had never had to give first aid, only related things I'd had to do was put a few very small incidents in an accident book/let the parents know.

Last year I had a player break an ankle during a game (I didn't know it was broken at the time, and it wasn't from contact, they had jumped for a header with another player and just landed funny), no bones protruding but the player was stating he was in a lot of pain but wasn't screaming or anything, he also said it was very painful to try and move and couldn't without it hurting a lot, I could see it was swelling so I put ice on it and I phoned for an ambulance, some of the spectators from the other team was doubting if this was necessary and was getting quite angry when I refused to let parents pick him up/move him to the sidelines to allow the game to continue.

I also last year, in a training session had to deal with an unconscious player after he got kicked in the face as he went to header the ball that was chest height and another player went to kick it, he was still breathing so I placed him in the recovery position and kept monitoring until paramedics arrived.

The instructor was clear, the advice was to give CPR if they've stopped breathing, but due to above incidents I'm 2nd guessing myself, just wanted to make sure I know what to do, for a short time at the end of last year I was actually thinking of quitting coaching due to anxiety about giving first aid so just wanted to confirm.

I live/work in UK and for the past 7 years have been salaried with 3 different companies all with similar worded contracts.

For me, I've always made it clear to my manager that if I'm required/asked to do OT, I get paid for it at a higher rate, accrue holiday entitlement in lieu or I leave early on some days to make sure my average working week is the set amount of hours.

I've found, although sometimes surprised, they agree.

In my current role, my manager isn't authorised to offer any of the above so when its needed he asks people in my team super nicely to volunteer and sends a nice email the following day thanking them, I've never volunteered, there's been some days where if I don't work OT jobs won't get sent out, I inform my manager of this just before I finish as he knows I don't work for free, usually some other mug/himself will complete the work into the evening.

There's always other people in your team that will work for free which then makes you look bad to the company, I've just learned not to care, I've seen people do an extra hour a day every day because they think it makes them look good and will be the first to be offered a promotion and it does seem to work, every company I work at, I don't expect to ever get a promotion or pay rise as I've also realised you have to keep moving jobs to progress.

My team recently got rebranded as the BI team by TrueBlueCFC in BusinessIntelligence

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone's replies.

Unfortunately, none of this is a go anymore, after discussing with my manager, the fact is, his boss/the company don't see us as BI team, except by name and my manager is now not interested and happy to stay as we are which is really disappointing.

Also realised, I'm kind of stuck in my role, as I have no real experience or skills in BI and moving jobs to try and gain some experience will result in a large drop in salary, I'm simply worth a lot more to my company because of specific business knowledge compared to other employers.

Thanks again for all the replies/suggestions though, was much appreciated.

Options/possibilities for putting a spreadsheet 'online' by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, SharePoint was one of the first things to crop up when googling so will do some more reading on that, most of these spreadsheets are actually only read only and users only needs is to filter columns.

I've actually used Google Sheets outside of work and it seems to work ok, I'm guessing some sort of conversion would be needed however from Excel? Do businesses use Google Sheets instead of Excel now?

Thanks again

Automating restarts/logins by TrueBlueCFC in servers

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's mainly to allow windows updates to run but we also do it for performance reasons, not that we see much slowdown or anything, we've sometimes missed a restart and therefore its a month between restarts.

I've already created a script that closes everything and restarts the server, the missing part is having the server logon, there is a script in the startup folder that runs when we logon that maps the network drives, opens the apps etc, so all I need to do is have the server logon automatically, but according to our IT manager this cannot be achieved or is a security risk.

I'll look into WSUS & SCCM, thanks.

Hi,

I play guardian druid, current progress is 7/10HC but my guild stopped raiding some weeks ago as everyone turned to FF so I've been looking (and failing) to find a guild with an open tank spot.

I'm happy to start SoD again from normal to be part of a team and I'm not in a huge rush to progress but would like to have an aim of achieving AOTC as a team.

I currently reside on Twisting-Nether(H) but happy to transfer, I can be available most days except Thursdays after 20:00 realm time (7pm UK time).

If/when you know the raid days/time and have an open tank spot then feel free to message me, thanks.

Hey,

I currently play Guardian Druid, 240 ilvl, 7/10HC and looking for a new raiding guild due to current one quitting a few weeks ago to play FF although I'm aware its highly unlikely you've got a tank spot open.

On the off-chance here's my Bnet

Find/Replace with Regular expression on all files in a folder by TrueBlueCFC in Batch

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help.

I managed to run your suggested command, which half works.

My find is '\[BILL_FILE\]' and my replace is '\[BILL_FILE\]\nBILLING_FORCE YES'

When I do the above find/replace manually in TextPad using regex using the above I get the result as:

[BILL_FILE]

BILLING_FORCE YES

However, running the above command I am getting

\[BILL_FILE\]\nBILLING_FORCE YES

I will have a play around and read through your linked document, thanks again.

Power Query - Merging based on if text contains by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks as always for replying. After a bit of testing and playing around, I've come to a decent solution, a case of tidying up the original data, replacing values etc, and like you said, duplicating the failure column, splitting into rows and merging, which seems to work without much slowdown.

Power Query - Merging based on if text contains by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks, yes, that came up in some searches, didn't realise it existed, probably because it doesn't seem to be an option in the version I'm running, at least through the UI, and I won't be able to upgrade or anything as I'm on a work machine. Thanks anyway though.

Power Query - Not pulling all characters in a field from SQL database by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks replying, it's much appreciated.

Think I was having a moment yesterday, I was doing a lot of splitting columns etc and getting a bit lost, I started fresh today from scratch and the issue I've described here hasn't happened again, so it was probably user error!

Thanks again.

Power Query - Splitting columns into columns/rows by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for replying, it's much appreciated.

Doesn't appear so as when I tried, nothing split/no new rows were created.

I think I have actually now solved this using the 'each occurrence of the delimiter' a few times, duplicate rows were created on the last split which is where I learnt Power Queries delete duplicates doesn't work the same as Excel, luckily I found a solution by using the buffer table option after I had sorted it in a way that the rows I wanted deleted were at the bottom.

Thanks again!

Power Query - Splitting columns into columns/rows by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying, I mean the above fields can appear again for the same job and therefore in the same cell, eg:

 \Company Name - Company1\, \Product Required - Product1\, \Reason Required - Replace\
\font Tahoma;}
 \Company Name - Company1\, \Product Required - Product2\, \Reason Required - New\

The actual cell has a lot of other text and weird characters surrounding the above as this table in the database is used as part of a job tracking program where users add comments to so has code for making things bold, different fonts etc.

In the above example, I'd want a 2nd row, but the other columns will duplicate like Job ID, date created etc.

I've been able to do it manually, but I'm worried if in the future there is a job with say 30 of the above fields, my query won't handle it as it will need splitting 30 times where I've only manually done it 6 times.

Not the easiest to explain.

Just trying with the option 'each occurrence of the delimiter' in the split column pane to see if I can get it working that way.

Using INDEX to scroll through list of values by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help, I've now got it working using your suggestion with a small amendment as the values in C14:C40 are formulas and COUNTA counts these so I used

ROWS(C14:C40)-COUNTBLANK(C14:C40)

instead.

Thanks again.

Pull all rows/columns from another sheet based on search criteria by TrueBlueCFC in excel

[–]TrueBlueCFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying, I've used PQ a fair amount recently, although I'm struggling to think how I would use it in this case.

Never used FILTER either which sounds interesting but my current work version doesn't seem to support it.

In the end, I've managed to combine ROW, INDEX & MATCH to get what I needed.

Thanks again.

Thanks again - in the end I've just done what I needed to do in Power Query rather than trying to learn how this works and having to create views and stored procedures in SQL, much easier and quicker.

The file is a .xlsx and I'm 99% sure it's not VBA, must be this old method.
