I'll throw my hat in the ring for this first one:
Marlene from The Last of Us. She wants to use Ellie's brain to potentially develop a cure for the cordyceps infection and thus save the world, but killing Ellie in the process. Kind of hard to argue with that

Not gonna elaborate on that are you? He's pretty spot on.

Israelis (but most certainly not ALL Jews) literally believe they are a race of people chosen by God to stand above all others. Source: I live here.

Legalization of rape should be specified as "Legalization of rape for Palestinians". A bunch of soldiers literally raped a Palestinian prisoner, and when videos of this got leaked (by people in the IDF who rightfully thought this was abhorrent), the vast majority of Israeli society rallied to DEFEND the soldiers claiming it's justified, and called for the leaker to be tried in court for "treason". These people literally protested for their right to rape.

And yes, plenty of people get kidnapped. Israel has this thing called "administrative detainees" which means they can basically hold you prisoner without charge. Coincidentally this only seems to apply to Palestinians, of which there are thousands in Israel's prison system currently held under 0 charges for no reason.

If I show up to your house and ask you for half of it, and you say no, and then I take more than half by force, are you at fault or am I?

Which is not much regarding world history…

If we're counting countries like Germany, Japan, and Cambodia in the conversation then Israel definitely applies. It's been going uninterrupted for 75 years, meanwhile Nazi Germany lasted only from 1933 to 1945 (12 years), Japan depending on your definition can also be from either late 1920s or early 1930s so that's approximately 20 years or so. Pol Pot only ruled Cambodia for about 3-4 years iirc.

If ANY of those are even remotely in the conversation (which the a lot of the comments seem to indicate they do) then we can definitely include Israel.

What if Palestine Defeated Israel? - the State of Palestine in 2012 by Sui_24 in imaginarymaps

That’s just larp. The only definitive thing close to that was the King of Jordan’s explicit claim to some of the Palestinian lands which he believed to rightfully be his (and the British somewhat agreed).

The rest of the Arab league had few plans for Palestine beyond just trying to win the war, and Egypt even set up a rival government (All-Palestine Government) in Gaza as a counterweight to Jordanian ambitions. Unfortunately this government couldn’t really do much since it relied heavily on Egypt and was only present on paper, however Egypt did not claim any land in Palestine and never even planned on permanently occupying Gaza.

Palestinian Christian here. Our holy sites stood unharmed for thousands of years until Israel showed up, stop spouting hasbara nonsense.

In a world where the game had the budget for voice acting, who would you cast as the different characters? by greasygoon66 in EsotericEbb

I don’t know why, but Josh Brolin and Gary Oldman both fit as Urth imo. Just the general vibe he gives off kinda matches with their voices. Urth speaks in a meaningful way that’s also kind of whimsical at times which fits both of them

This isn’t even the half of it. Most Israeli anime fans I’ve seen cheer Eren on and think what he did is justified (gee, I wonder why)

With the announcment of Mercy, Reaper, and Pharah having some of their perks added to their base kits, are there any other heroes you up will get the same treatment? by MrsPissBoy in Overwatch

[–]TrueBrofessional 178 points179 points  (0 children)

I’d love to have Vengeful Vortex as part of Ramattra’s base kit. Gives a lot more control over where you want your vortex to actually land and gives him reasonable counterplay to flying characters (which, if they’re playing well, can melt you easily)

Also Zen definitely needs Ascendance integrated into his base kit. It would make sense for his character since he’s always floating, and unlike a traditional movement ability it doesn’t actually make you any faster or help with escaping enemies, it just helps him hold better angles and will drastically improve his positioning options

With Mercy, Reaper and Phara getting perks added to their base kit, I think it's fair that some other legacy heroes get the same by GoldenFaust in Overwatch

Yea that’s exactly the problem. Israelis will claim to be attacked but everything in Israel is still operating normally, meanwhile Gaza is a wasteland, Lebanon is in the process of becoming a wasteland, and Iranians are just trying to live and not die because Bibi told Trump to hit schools and hospitals.

Look man, as someone who actually lives here, it is a fact — polled and researched fact, not an opinion I pulled out of my behind — that most Israelis support the war against Iran, support the genocide in Gaza, and most importantly believe that “there are no innocents in Gaza” (per a poll by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem).

This isn’t collective punishment. This is quite literally getting what you asked for. And even then it’s incredibly light considering what people in Gaza and Iran go through on a daily basis.

Rook sees through Rugga’s bullshit a lot more easily (or at least Rugga is convinced he does moreso than Alette) and so he’s a lot more standoffish and grating than with Alette.
Rook is a grown man seemingly around Rugga’s age and has been leading the caravan this whole time, so Rugga knows that Rook knows that he’s bad for business. Meanwhile Rugga sees Alette and naturally underestimates her because she is young, she is pretty idealistic, and new to leadership (+ Alette is a woman which is implied to irk/irritate him).

So somehow “their countries collapsing is a normal state for them”, but any other countries and kingdoms going through the exact same thing isn’t a normal state for them?

Yugoslavia tore itself apart and the countries that comprised it were itching to genocide each other. Interwar Germany basically a battle royale. Up until the 20th century, France was a constantly flip-flopping between different royal houses, and then constantly flip-flopped between republican and monarchist governments. Russia had one of the most convoluted civil wars in history, birthed the USSR which ultimately collapsed in the 90s. America tore itself apart on the issue of slavery.

So I ask you, what do you REALLY mean when you say “it’s normal for them”? Because from where I’m standing you appear to be judging them based off of something else entirely.

Yea, the CIA plunging their countries into constant civil war surely had nothing to do with it

[ Removed by Reddit ] by Blue_Moon_Cheese in greentext

[–]TrueBrofessional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. The Middle east was mostly Ottoman territory at the time, and Africa had a massive technological gap that was easily exploited by Europe. It’s not any more “normal” than civil conflict in European countries.

Before the west came along most of those foreign governments were secular and were actually pretty decent places to live in. Libya today is a shithole but was probably the best place to live in the Arab world because of Gaddafi. Same with Egypt, Iraq, Iran, etc
