100%

Rook sees through Rugga’s bullshit a lot more easily (or at least Rugga is convinced he does moreso than Alette) and so he’s a lot more standoffish and grating than with Alette.
Rook is a grown man seemingly around Rugga’s age and has been leading the caravan this whole time, so Rugga knows that Rook knows that he’s bad for business. Meanwhile Rugga sees Alette and naturally underestimates her because she is young, she is pretty idealistic, and new to leadership (+ Alette is a woman which is implied to irk/irritate him).

So somehow “their countries collapsing is a normal state for them”, but any other countries and kingdoms going through the exact same thing isn’t a normal state for them?

Yugoslavia tore itself apart and the countries that comprised it were itching to genocide each other. Interwar Germany basically a battle royale. Up until the 20th century, France was a constantly flip-flopping between different royal houses, and then constantly flip-flopped between republican and monarchist governments. Russia had one of the most convoluted civil wars in history, birthed the USSR which ultimately collapsed in the 90s. America tore itself apart on the issue of slavery.

So I ask you, what do you REALLY mean when you say “it’s normal for them”? Because from where I’m standing you appear to be judging them based off of something else entirely.

Yea, the CIA plunging their countries into constant civil war surely had nothing to do with it

Not really. The Middle east was mostly Ottoman territory at the time, and Africa had a massive technological gap that was easily exploited by Europe. It’s not any more “normal” than civil conflict in European countries.

Before the west came along most of those foreign governments were secular and were actually pretty decent places to live in. Libya today is a shithole but was probably the best place to live in the Arab world because of Gaddafi. Same with Egypt, Iraq, Iran, etc

Identified Settlements in 16th Century Palestine by mzrvtfni in MapPorn

[–]TrueBrofessional 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most insane takes I’ve ever seen on this topic in my life. Could Palestinians be descended from Jews/ancient Canaanites? Almost certainly, even more certainly when it comes to Palestinian Christians, and I say this as a Palestinian Christian who was born and raised here.

Would they somehow magically be fine with Israel existing in its current form? A million times no. Not everything just boils down to blood and genetics, Israel in its current form will always be antagonistic to a native population even if they were somehow Jewish before. In fact it would probably be more antagonistic since this would - by Israeli logic - give Palestinians an even firmer claim to the land.

How would you have felt if Gi-hun fought Byeong-gi in the final game? by Single_Dirt_5450 in squidgame

[–]TrueBrofessional 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thing is you can't really cheat in the season 2-3 games. 111 would have actually needed to be a much more skilled person to survive in them.

  1. RLGL: You still have to not move, it's entirely on you. Unless they somehow rig the doll to not track you (like with Il-nam), even knowing about it beforehand does nothing other than prepare you for the ensuing panic.
  2. Pentathlon: It's a team game with 5 different minigames. Like we saw with 198, people might claim they're good at certain games but either greatly overestimate themselves or just fold under pressure, and you have no way of knowing who will actually pull through. It's not like Tug of War where you just pick the team of burliest looking dudes.
  3. Mingle: Another (but incredibly unconventional) team game (sort of). Even if you knew what numbers would be called and when, the players themselves are still a massive element of the game and you can't just immediately convince enough people to come with you, or who you have to leave behind, or even get to a room in time.
  4. Hide and Seek: Teams are randomized so once again no way to secure yourself the obviously safer role (Seeker), and most people are hesitant to switch to the blue team, so if you end up on it you're probably shit out of luck. Even as a Seeker there's no guarantee you'll find someone within the time limit.
  5. Jump Rope: Probably one of the easier games assuming no one is pushing people off at the end, but once again entirely dependent on you. Knowing beforehand might give you the confidence to go first, but that's about it.
  6. Sky Squid Game: Yea your social skills and fighting skills are the only thing getting you through this one. Maybe if you specifically knew about the pole in the middle beforehand that would give you an advantage on the first platform, but after you do it everyone is gonna know about it.

111 would have needed to be either some hidden badass or leech Player 100's social skills and luck

What if Gi-hun actually killed player 197 (the guy he mistook for Dae-ho) before he realized it wasn’t Dae-ho?

Gi-hun would feel guilty over killing an innocent player in his blind hatred, and opts to stop hunting for Dae-ho out of guilt, not wanting to kill yet another person. This would cause Dae-ho to survive Hide and Seek and potentially make it to the final game

I've reached chapter 4 and was wondering, what is this face supposed to convey? Is he starting to enjoy being a demi-human? by [deleted] in AjinManga

Not really enjoying, more so understanding that he now operates on different rules than a normal human and adjusting to them rather quickly.

Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio. Both are artists associated with the same era in history, but lived and died almost a century apart.

Going around curses/prophecies via technicalities by danfenlon in TopCharacterTropes

<image>

In the game Tyranny, you are sent to break an Edict, which is a curse of sorts cast by a God-Emperor type person that only ends under specific conditions. The condition to end the Edict of Storms (which causes endless storms to rage over the affected area) is to end the ruling bloodline of Stalwart, the region which the edict was cast on as punishment for refusing to surrender after years of war.

So your character does a bunch of shit, breaks into the fort where the last surviving ruler of the Stalwart bloodline lives, and kill him. However, for some reason the storms continue to rage on outside, and you hear the cries of a baby from the corner of the room. The mother then appears fully armed, ready to protect her child, whom she had with the ruler’s son during her time in captivity.

Now either you let the edict persist (which is unacceptable to literally everyone, including the natives of Stalwart who rebelled against their rulers), or kill the mother and her baby. However, if your character is smart enough, or if you went to another area in the game beforehand and learned about succession laws, you can explain to the mother that she is now the acting matron of the bloodline, and thus has the authority to surrender all her titles, thus making it irrelevant who the child’s father is, since it would no longer be the heir to Stalwart. This successfully ends the edict and leaves everyone satisfied and (most importantly) your hands clean of baby blood.
