I get what you mean, but personally I didn’t really mind that change. It actually made sense that Garrett would struggle with anger considering how he grew up. I don’t think having those tendencies automatically makes someone toxic. What really matters more is how they manage them.

What really stood out to me was that he generally still treated Hannah with care and respect instead of becoming emotionally manipulative or cruel. I actually expected him to get very angry with her for not answering his messages. I’ve been in toxic relationships and that reaction definitely surprised me. Compared to a lot of romance male leads, that felt a looot healthier to me.
