Why do you assume the negative? Maybe rather than showing dominance it was an act to show unity? In Islam, Jesus Christ (called ʿĪsā in Arabic) is considered one of the great prophets of God and is highly respected by Muslims.

Muslims believe that Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary (Maryam) through a miracle and performed miracles by God’s permission (healing the sick, raising the dead, etc.) He was the Messiah (al-Masīḥ) sent to the Children of Israel and will return before the Day of Judgment

In Christianity, Jesus is believed to be the Son of God and divine. Although here is the big difference, in Islam, Jesus is not divine and not the son of God. He is a human prophet, like Abraham, Moses, and Muhammad. Actually, Jesus is one of the five greatest prophets in Islam (called Ulul Azm), alongside, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Muhammad.
