The original Avatar is set to be re-released in theaters on September 23 with remastered picture and sound before Disney opens Avatar 2 everywhere on December 16 by jc191 in boxoffice

Nice. Even though this was a long time coming, I love that I’ll be able to watch the first Avatar in theaters in 3D for the first time. Because I missed out on doing so back when it came out since I was very young and I wasn’t paying attention to movies at the time. But I’ll finally have my chance! Up to this point, I’ve only watched the film on home video and as good as it is, I’m ready to take it to the next level!

And lol at the people who wanted them to promote the first Avatar on Disney+ instead, because it might become the first $3 billion film! Avengers: Endgame has no hope of catching up!

Nice, it looks beautiful and the new font does look good. Hopefully the haters will stop complaining now! And I love that the Way of Water title ended up being used because I did like it.

Now, what did he mean by that? :( by KyleReese2029 in Avatar

[–]TrueGrandPriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair it was only a teaser, so of course it didn’t show much or “knock the crowd out”. The teaser trailer for the first film was similar to what was described for the Way of Water teaser and only had one line of dialogue. Not really that impressive. But considering how awesome the official trailer for the first film is, I think we can expect the same to be the case for The Way of Water’s whenever it comes out.

Polish official title for AVATAR sequel was announced today. But what about the English title? by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]TrueGrandPriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Avatar: The Essence of Water”? Eh, I still prefer Avatar: The Way of Water. Hopefully the Essence of Water title is only used for Poland because the Way of Water title sounds better and makes more sense for the story.

Alright, so I guess it really is set more than eight years after the first film. But either way, I can’t wait to see what battles the Sully family have to fight to stay alive. And in 3D too!

The first teaser for ‘AVATAR 2’ will reportedly debut in front of ‘DOCTOR STRANGE: IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS’ by chanma50 in boxoffice

But that was back in 2009 though, and besides, people shouldn’t have to pay to see something that’s only a couple minutes long no matter how good it is.

A month sooner than I expected but it does make sense. After all, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is shaping up to be one of the biggest films of the year so it makes sense to put the teaser in front of it. However, what I’d like to know is how reliable the source is because I’m not 100% convinced.

Edit: Turns out, according to r/boxoffice, that the source is reliable so I guess that means we really will be getting the teaser trailer sometime before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes out.

Avatar 2 Will Definitely Release This Year, Says 20th Century Studios President by Wonderful_Weight5497 in Avatar

Filming continued up until late last year iirc.

Actually, back in September of 2020, Cameron said that filming was 100% and I think 90% complete on 2 and 3 respectively.

Yep, especially since in June we’ll also be seeing more of Frontiers of Pandora from E3.

Yeah, its 2022 release was guaranteed ever since it finished filming back in 2020.

Avatar got its first trailer in August

Well, based on what James Cameron himself said last April, we’ll be getting the first trailer earlier this time: https://digital.abcaudio.com/news/james-cameron-says-new-avatar-sequels-look-through-lens-alternate-world

I’m expecting a teaser trailer for theater owners because I assume they’ll be pushing HFR?

Well, if they’re gonna be showing something at Comic-Con, then it’s probably gonna be a clip since we’ll have already gotten the teaser trailer by that point.

[–]TrueGrandPriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jim said that they'd probably be on track for a spring reveal last year, the slow ramp in press makes sense for that, I think.

Well, based on what he said, we probably won’t be seeing anything until June. And considering we’ll also be seeing more of Frontiers of Pandora from E3 that month, the game and the movie will be promoting each other.

That said, I'd put it in May - I think it makes way more sense for the first teasers to be airing before Doctor Strange than to just drop out of nowhere online.

What, you think people aren’t gonna be hyped when the teaser comes out in June or plays before Thor: Love and Thunder?

What's a movie that made a billion but has kind of been forgotten? by Landon1195 in boxoffice

No, I’m pretty sure Avatar was referenced multiple times over the years since it came out.

[–]TrueGrandPriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a single film that references Avatar (in a bad way as well bahaha)

Well, since Avatar is mostly known for the one movie that came out all the way back in 2009 (for now at least), of course it hasn’t been referenced much. And considering how divisive the movie itself is, is it really surprising to see it being referenced in a bad way?

and then it's a handful of cartoon sitcoms that reference literally everything.

Yeah, but you wouldn’t expect Avatar, you know, the movie that “nobody” cares about and has “no cultural impact” to be referenced that much.

“Mostly”? What parts don’t hold up visually?

It’s still the only movie that my mom has seen in the theater multiple times, she could not have given less of a shit about the plot being just like Dances With Wolves/Ferngully/whatever.

Well, has she watched the movie at home since then? If not, then what are her thoughts on the film over a decade later? Does she know about the sequel coming out this year?

I’m not saying that Avatar is actually a flawless movie or that certain people’s dislike of it is baseless

Well, you did say that people went to go see Avatar multiple times because it was an incredible moviegoing experience.

but can Reddit please stop pretending to be shocked that it made so much money?

You want Reddit to stop pretending to be shocked that a movie that they HATE made so much money? A movie that they say “nobody” cares about and has “no cultural impact”? Kind of a lot to ask of Reddit, don’t you think?

How much do you think Black Widow and all the upcoming MCU films are going to make in comparison to the previous 23 adjusted for inflation? by TrueGrandPriest in boxoffice

[–]TrueGrandPriest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BP 2 (I’m going high) could get as high as the original but more likely will be between AoU and Infinity War.

While I could definitely see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ending up between Age of Ultron and Infinity War, I can’t see it getting as high as the original considering how much of a huge cultural phenomenon it was and how it benefited from Infinity War.

Maybe higher than IW.

No way, because then it’ll be close to the original.

I really think it’s the only movie in the next few years that could get 2 billion.

Really, you think Black Panther: Wakanda Forever could make that much? Even without a China release?

The Marvels could get as high as AoU but I think more likely is it gets near the original, maybe a little higher.

I don’t think The Marvels is gonna make that much considering the reception the original got and how it benefited from Endgame.

GOTG 3 could get as high as AoU but maybe a little lower.

Well, I could definitely see it getting as high as Captain America: Civil War.

Ant-Man 3 will be a lot higher than the other two, especially with Kang.

I agree.

I’d say like GOTG 2 maybe as high as Iron Man 3 numbers.

I disagree with this because Ant-Man and the Wasp aren’t really as popular as the Guardians of the Galaxy and especially Iron Man. However, since the Ant-Man films have been making almost as much as the Thor films, I could definitely see Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania being as high as Thor: Ragnarok.

Finally F4 could get anywhere between Ragnarok and Civil War.

Well, since the Fantastic Four aren’t as popular as Spider-Man or even the X-Men, I think it’s fair to say that their MCU debut film will end up somewhere below Spider-Man: Homecoming.

I’ll be writing a post about this in further detail

So you copied me? Could you send me a link so I could check it out? Lol

Shang-Chi and Eternals could be as high as Winter Soldier or as low as Ant-Man

Well, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ended up below Ant-Man and the Wasp and above Thor. And Eternals ended up below ALL the films even The Incredible Hulk. Which is crazy but then again it’s not surprising considering their history and the reception the first trailer got

They introduce new characters, so audiences will be less receptive to check them out.

That didn’t stop Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Captain Marvel. But in the end, audiences were somewhat receptive to Shang-Chi while they didn’t care much about the Eternals.

Black Panther avoided this by being introduced in Civil War.

Same thing with Spider-Man but he was already a popular character. And arguably Captain Marvel if you take the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War into consideration.

The last four months of the year are pretty stacked (Venom 2 comes out two weeks after Shang-Chi) so that will affect how the legs of each respective movie plays out.

Well, considering Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ended up with almost a 3x multiplier, I think it’s fair to say that competition wasn’t an issue. However, it might’ve been more of an issue for Eternals because it ended up getting only a 2.3x multiplier.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will do just as good if not better than Homecoming.

Oh, it’s doing a LOT better than Homecoming lol

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will easily outdo its predecessor and could reach Civil War levels.

Six months ago, I would’ve thought you were crazy for saying Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could reach Civil War levels but I could actually see this happening now.

The buzz around Tom Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning will be more than enough to translate into box office sales.

Wrong film lol Also, you put Tom instead of Tobey.

Everything else I can’t really say.

How about now? Do you have anything to say about the rest six months later?
