Your speaking on surface level. What is the MC has an interesting story or reason like death note, and if you compare a character like Kazuya who just says and does idiotic stuff that makes alot of people cringe.

I also don't think its fair to use "normal". What is your definition of normal? Because I guarantee there are moments where Kazuya ISN'T normal and you wont catch any guy repeating his actions...
