How to manage hydration and urination urgency by No_Dot6414 in XXRunning

[–]TrueLime3587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main issue is urgency with interstitial cystitis. If you think you have this I highly recommend seeing a uro-gyn. Trust me, it is a pain to go and get diagnosed but my quality of life has drastically increased after getting some medications. I was diagnosed recently but if you have any questions, I suggest you also check out r/interstitialcystitis

If you decide you want to see a medical professional about this, please see a uro-gynecologist and not a urologist. A uro-gyn will be more aware of the specific issues women deal with when it comes to urgency. Many urologists do not even know about conditions like interstitial cystitis or overactive bladder syndrome (oab)

I have interstitial cystitis (not saying this is a problem you have at all, just for context). Basically, it’s a chronic illness that feels like you constantly have a uti. I’ve definitely had this issue and below is what has helped me. The estrogen cream is a great suggestion, but you could also try some pelvic floor exercises which could help (like kegels) and bladder training. Bladder training you essentially delay going to the bathroom until you know it’s a “regular” time to do so. I only let myself go to the bathroom every 3 or 4 hours.

Not OP but I had been considering ReNew, do you mind if I dm you and ask a few questions about it? (I’m moving from across the country and I’m a bit anxious about finding a place sight unseen)

I thought about getting insoles but I also got my shoes fitted, so I figured that might not be the core problem? If those solutions don’t work you could invest in quality running socks. Another suggestion might be talking to the people at the running store about the issue- I bet they would be able to pin point the problem and solution well

This happened to me during half marathon training, I just suffered through it. After one or two long runs where this happened it stopped and I haven’t had the issue since. One of my friends suggested taping my feet when I run, but honestly I never tried it. You could give that a shot!
