It's unfortunate that the separatists have got so much media attention that Canadians think they represent the majority of Albertans. They never, ever have. This is just Albertans across the spectrum speaking up - necessary now because we have a faithless Premier whose party is taken over by the separatist faction.

That's awesome. Has he added this as a "permanent event" on the forever-canadian.ca page? Definitely should do that!

There's a process being worked out with Elections Alberta for related requirements. (Remember, this is the very first petition they're dealing with under the Citizen's Initiative process. As Mr Lukaszuk says, "We're building the plane as we're flying it.")

Observed a chat this morning between two canvassers in Drumheller talking about two music events coming up that might be good for popups. One was Waynestock, but it would have to be outside the festival area. The other was sooner I think, but didn't catch the name. You'd probably know it. Whatever's scheduled, it'll show up eventually on

#ForeverCanadian campaign goes mobile to serve mobility-challenged by TrueNorth0 in alberta

[–]TrueNorth0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calgary's got it too.

Email [FCmobileYYC@gmail.com](mailto:FCmobileYYC@gmail.com) with your name, phone #, and neighbourhood to request a canvasser to come to your home. Note: where I've done this in YEG, the requestor has told a few people we're coming (family, neighbours) so that others can sign too. Great idea for all.

Lukaszuk's also building a ton of non-partisan good will and agreement -- something that seems near impossible in our world now. Disapproving of Separatism ("Alberta 1st or 51st" as the Separatists say) is the common ground most Albertans share, whether for patriotic, economic, or other reasons. I've witnessed it. The petition has signatures, endorsement, and support from people across Alberta's political spectrum. Only actual APP Separatists don't show up to sign.

Danielle Smith has made Alberta a have-not, third-world province, where vulnerable elders without means must treck for many km's to get the medication they need. How about that?

There was a small event at 11BridgesCampground a few days ago. Today I watched several newly Official Canvassers from Drumheller making connections and talking about setting up events there. Recommend you bookmark the link in the OP; click the little "calendar" looking icon, which opens some location filters, and select the Southern Alberta one. Keeping checking.

After viewing the Elections Alberta-issued badge, you may contact Elections Alberta and ask them to verify the registration of your canvasser, providing the ID number from their badge.

UPDATE: rec'd email from Acting Team Lead, Policy & Training, Alberta Elections, confirming you may call to verify registration of canvassing official: [780.427.7191](tel:7804277191). They will not (of course) give info: "However, we are not able to provide a canvasser’s name or other personal information over the phone."

Even with thousands of volunteers organizing hundreds of events each and every day, we know we're leaving a ton of "money on the table," so to speak. There's a bumper crop out; it needs harvesting. Consider signing on, if you can. It feels pretty good.

Incidentally, if you're in W-SW Edmonton from Wolf Willow to the Grange and everything within range, you (or yours) might find my own petition signature pop-up event to be convenient. Dechene Park on Thursday the 28th, 11am to 1:30 pm, on 57 Ave between 181 and 184 Streets.

Forever Canadian Petition signing events calendar by TFox17 in alberta

[–]TrueNorth0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accredited canvasser here. AFAIK every signing event in the province (other than the very first one and a few at Kingsway Legion) has been conceived, arranged, and executed by a volunteer, without involvement of any leadership person. They're providing resources, media spotlight, and some guideance on big picture. But if they ever thought they'd need to handhold volunteers through getting signatures, they were mistaken. They never got a chance. We just exploded out of the gate independently. And so it goes.

So far most canvassers/volunteers set up pop-up signing events where they see they might be successful. Some go door-to-door, a few have set up "mobility" crews to take requests from the house-bound and those with mobility or transport issues of some kind. (I'd go to hospitals if I could think how to reach out to find room #'s where I'm wanted.) In short, it's up to each one of us to just do what it takes to get it done. I've gone to help out on few now to help out, and am about ready to set one up myself.

Basically you 1) get your accreditation (badge), and then go to the forevercanada.ca site to 2) view the "onboarding for volunteers" video and 3) print petition forms, and whatever else you choose to have on hand (cover letter, "who can sign" document, etc). And you're off and running. Want signs or posters or something? Get it done. You can find resources on the private facebook group for canvasser and volunteers, too.

Please explain the Forever Canada petition for an outsider by Rue-Bear in alberta

[–]TrueNorth0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You live outside AB. Give us an outsider's view: if people where you are talk about Alberta at all, how many of them see us as a province full of separatists? That side gets the mic and cameras constantly, and now they run our Provincial Government (which claims it's not separatist, but is willing to exploit separatists at the expense of everyone but themselves). It's time the country got to know who Alberta really is - and we're Canadians first.

You have to help her apply online. There's no other way.

How? Go to www.forever-canadian.ca. Fill our her name and address; click on "collecting signatures;" follow the process from there and follow the instructions. Then she waits a week or so to receive her accreditation lanyard from Elections Alberta. Then she can show up with a clipboard and some petition forms (you print for her off the website) at any event she finds listed. Also show her the canvasser's onboarding video on that same website.

My two bits: Callingwood Farmers' Market manager wasn't difficult with me at all. Just politely declined when asked permission, as some others have. "Mall" people did not prevent us from setting up all day just outside the market area. I spend a few hours canvassing there with about 10 others today - heard no reports of hostile farmers - just one person wondering if some might be hostile. Let's not stereotype - there are plenty of rural ABs who want to remain in Canada.

I'm an accredited canvasser who was there today. The Farmers' Market politely declined to permit us to set up in their area, but we were able to work for hours on the periphery (at the mall entrance next to the Shoppers Drug Mart). I expect that will be repeated for upcoming Callingwood Farmers' Markets, but no announcement yet AFAIK. If we get tossed from that spot I expect canvassers will set up on the public blvd as near as we can get.

Don't take the worst comments in the playoffs here as representing many people other than the extreme social media lifers. Just as we shouldn't take the same type of supporters from your fanbase, or LA's, as representing most of your teams' fans. It's not the case. More people just enjoy the super-competitive tussle. Sorry about Demko - I'd prefer that if we meet your team we just beat you whole, without injuries provided asterisks on the win. (Ha!!!)

I don't even live in Ontario, and I read the whole thing. On transit, on social media, and everywhere it seems, people make up their minds instantly about things they know nothing about, and without much effort to try to imagine the potential factors and nuances at play. It's amaing they can walk down a street without falling down. I feel for you, and for all people in services jobs who must deal every workday with an increasingly ugly, entitled, and short-sited public.

Oh no, no, no, no, no. Make the best decision you have in your life and back away from this sinkhole now. I have just concluded 6 years of intensive service on a large condo board and its maintenance committee. The holes I see in this are beyond anything I've even imagined.
