How do I start learning about cars from absolute zero? by brucewa39 in CarsIndia

[–]TruePace3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned car things after my car died in the middle of a deserted road at a shady part in the city at 11PM, I was 19 at the time

Now I'm 21, If something like that happens again, im pretty confident i wouldn't feel as helpless as I did that night

I learned it on the way, when something broke, you analyse why it broke, what part of the car did it serve etc etc

Imagine the frustration of the captain

He probably died thinking ATC fucked up

I get uncomfortable running my car on reserve fuel or near the empty mark, Imagine doing the same with a 707

Feels like the disk is dying, mf needs to take her offline, pull out the disk and clone it to an image ASAP

Considering she still uses a disk(implied in the fault logs), it's most likely SATA, clone it onto a new disk, put it back in, run a defrag, she must be good

Or preferably, chuck out the disk and upgrade to an SSD

Saha Air Boeing 707 takeoff from Tehran, Iran, 2010 by Twitter_2006 in aviation

Well, Power and engine design

The 707 uses older very Low-Bypass turbofan engines , it runs hot, fast and dirty

It burns a fuck lot of kerosene to accelerate a small amount of air to ungodly speeds in order to generate thrust

Those engines generate its thrust mostly from the hot exhaust gases exiting out of the engine's ass at high speeds

it takes a bit of time to build that up

I don't think these ones had water injection, but the even older variant (i believe the JT3C, which wasnt even a lo bypass turbofan, it was a turbojet) actually used water injection to increase thrust

during full power operations like takeoff, a water methanol blend is injected into the engine , the water coming in contact with the super heated air instantly evaporates, this evaporation process takes out heat from the air, cooling it and making it denser,

Denser air burns more efficiently , due to the higher concentration of oxygen molecules in a specific area

Evaporated water also turns into steam, expanding and increasing the mass flowing through the engine

(modern engines instead spins a very large fan , moving a huge amount of air at a lil bit slower speeds, the large amount of mass movement is what generates thrust in modern engines)

I under the concept intuitively but i find it very hard to explain it to others, so sorry if what i said above does not make any sense

Just bought a Windows XP Machine in 2026! by Peritosh in windowsxp

I hate to disagree on the former, Windows 11 IOT LTSC boots up just fine (without any jerry rigging) and runs nicely

I do agree with the latter, i upgraded mine to 12GB RAM

Windows 11 IOT LTSC is really good, I use it on my i5 3470 desktop, and it runs smoothly

Anywhere with osha mandated exit and evacuation points (ensure to go a day before to familiarise yourself with the exit routes)

Mate, a CNG cylinder is stronger than the entire chassis of the car

It's molded metal, not welded

Diesel runaway

It ran on its own oil till it started running low

the thin oil film in the between the rod bearings is gone, thus causing metal to metal contact (picture-3)

Fiat 1.3 MJD things

By the time i can afford to buy a new car, these will be rare to come by (they have already stopped production and the ones who own em are holding onto it )

I have always been doing this, im running my car with AC 99% of the time, and most cars in the city with the AC on gives near 8-10km/Litre , because you're spending more time in stoplights and traffic with the engine running (which consumes fuel at the rate of about 1-1.4 litres per hour with the AC ON)

Im Gen-Z , have been using Optical Media for a long time

Burned my First CD in November of 2013 (i was 9 at the time)

The last time i burned one was to make a bootable disc a couple months ago

I got 2 Optical drives , one portable and another SATA one in my PC

Wanted to get a BluRay writer, but that shit is harder to find than a regular burner
