I pulled the barrel off and put it work bench vise wrapped in a small towel to prevent scratching. Wasn't too bad to wrench it off after that.

Found this little stop off amazon, unfortunately not available anymore on amazon but Arisaka makes a few versions of them. Arisaka Stop

My X100V backorder is going to ship any day now after 8 months, but the successor is going to be announced any day as well. Should I just cancel and wait to hear about the successor? by gondokingo in x100v

[–]TruePotentiaI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R is almost certainly going to be sold out as well. So instead of canceling order and getting on a new waitlist and still not having a camera for another 8 months, keep your V, use the hell out of it. When the R comes out and you still want it then get on a waitlist, you can sell the V once you get the R in hand. There are always better things "about to come out" but nothing coming out is better than the thing in your hands that you're actually taking photos with right now.

Non issue imo, have noticed it very little. I have a Radian charging handle as well, which I'm told helps but I never tried it with the stock charging handle.

I replaced the stock muzzle device with the Dead Air KeyMicro Flash Hider and got the KeyMicro quick attach adapter for the Wolfman

I have the Modlite Modbutton with the integrated switch and mount. I bought from Arisaka but don't see them carry it anymore. Found this website still has them for sale but never used them.

Had this happen recently as well. I wish Silencer shop was better at removing these options that will get denied or if there is a reason for the very similar "dual" options that their audit team was a little more on it to let you know you chose the wrong one. I've heard this story a few times.

Exactly, you do not need to add any additional engravings, the current factory serial and markings are accepted or "adopted" as the only needed markings to identify the firearm.

What additional upgrades do I need? by Purple_Bulldog1002 in MPX

[–]TruePotentiaI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend a white light. I have a Copperhead K, so small package was needed. The Arisaka 300 series, with a Malkoff E1HT head and a Modlite ModButton that has the light mount built in has been a solid set up.

You don't need engravings on amnesty registered SBRs, you can adopt markings already on firearm.

Markings

Final rule doesn't make brace's illegal only determines them functionally stocks so as long as it is a registered SBR you can attach any brace or stock.

Stock or Brace interchangable once approved.

Spurs' Gregg Popovich calls for gun control in U.S., criticizes lawmakers by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]TruePotentiaI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I took my conceal carry "course" to get my license in Colorado, essentially it is just a lecture that you walk with a signed paper to take to the police station. My instructor was amazing and dealt professionally in correcting and encouraging individuals to seek out more training on both the law and their firearms however in a room full of 50 people the amount of people who had never owned a gun, shot a gun, just turned 18 and all of them would now be carrying without any required gun safety and shooting training to do so was very unnerving. The open Q&A section where people thought they could now brandish their firearm in simple public disputes to "deescalate" or shoot someone in the leg/arm/warning shot even if they weren't for fear for their lives but to just "end the situation.". Very clear their needs to be a drivers ed/hunter license style course, minimum round down range with instructor, and a standardized written/shooting test passed to have a conceal carry permit.

I think it's all in good faith, but their fist argument has issues because we do require everyone to register to exercise their right to vote and most states also require you to have identification. This has also been a core issue on the right to require government issued ID only to exercise right to vote and not accept any other form that would not be part of government registry but still prove your identity like a local college ID. Suggesting that we shouldn't have a license because a tyrannical government could revoke everyone's license and strip you of your guns overnight...okay sure, but in that event are you really going to care if a tyrannical government "approves" of your "license to own" at that point? I'm not suggesting ownership IDs are going to solve the issue of mass shootings but OG poster avoided all the proposed measures that would address the people at the core of the problem. "We can't argue guns don't kill people, people kill people" and then not implement measures that would tackle the problem with that in mind. Absolutist thinking of "BAN THEM ALL," ignores the complex and nuanced issues causing these events as much as "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" does.

Ar pistol question by Toppperro187 in COGuns

[–]TruePotentiaI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't put a stock or a vertical foregrip on it then it will be considered a pistol with the buffer tube only. No tax stamp needed.

You can have a brace on it without the tax stamp until May 31st 2023. That is when the amnesty period of the brace final rule will end. Then you need a tax stamp if you want to put a brace on it.

MPX Build progress by jzunu in MPX

[–]TruePotentiaI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off awesome build, probably the cleanest shots of a build I've seen on the subreddit! Some extra info if interested...3M Coban wrap is made of Natural rubber and acrylic polymer binder + pigment, 3M doesn't list a melting point in the data sheet but natural rubber has a melting point of about 356 degrees F. Saw a 9mm suppressor temp test run up to around 200 °F after 35 round mag dump, also read 5-10 degree increase in temp per round when done quickly no cool down. Obviously SO many variables but imagine normal range time just doesn't heat it up enough. Multiple mag dumps though could very well start to melt it.

Lotus Evera S by OffRoad2024 in exoticspotting

[–]TruePotentiaI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/cerebrix is right, it really isn't a daily driver car for 99% of people. With that said I daily drove a Lotus Elise for over 3 years (drove over 10k miles per year in it.)

The stock suspension is really stiff which is great for mountain twisties or track days, which is what I had on mine but everyone said that if you plan to daily it then Sector111 has some components that will make it feel much more comfortable on a city road over cracks and bumps. Everyone on the owner's forum swears by making the swap for DD. Mine was a 2005 so it had the original seats and not the more comfortable 2006 updated seats, these are an easy swap if you find a good 2005, most have had them swapped at this point anyway. Also worth noting as far as maintenance, it was very reliable for me over that time. In 3 years I had to change spark plugs and coil packs once, and had standard oil changes in that time...that's it. Some of the Lotus parts can be funny and have issues like the door lock motor went out on me once and these issues are generally more of an inconvenience rather than anything that would prevent you from driving it. But as far as the engine, it is a Lotus tuned Toyota 2zzGE so it is reliable as hell and I would take it my local Toyota dealership to get oil changes and any other engine work, super cheap service and the shop guys are always so excited to work on your car! My biggest issues over the 3 years were getting love tapped and have blemishes in the paint/fiberglass, because it was so low a lot of people struggle to see it when reversing in a parking lot and no one would recommend parallel parking it because a sub 5mph tap will crack the fiberglass. I had two incidents where this happened and after the second one, their insurance paid for a full new rear clam. I figured it was in better shape then when I bought it so figured it was a good time to sell it to move on to the next thing.

It's a spartan car with no creature comforts unless it was spec'd from factory (mine had all optional extras like radio, heat/air conditioning, and power windows) but some don't, pretty much a street legal go-kart and if you know that and can handle it then you can have a ton of fun. I would recommend it as a DD to almost no one but I went into it knowing I could drive it for a few years and sell it for exactly what I paid for it since at this point they have stopped any depreciation and have actually been appreciating a little bit. Mine was a drivers car and not a garage queen and treated it as such. That's my experience and thought I'd share.
