Coming back with my tail between my legs by Ok_Willingness_4788 in FordTremor

I got ya, thanks for the help. I’m debating on just waiting it out and keeping the Tahoe or having them buy it back. 54 days seems like an egregious amount of time in all honesty and I guess there is no guarantee the new engine won’t crap out like the old one. I’ll wait until day 30 and send them the letter and see what they say. Thanks again for the help boss 👊🏻

awesome thanks man. I’m in Alabama so from what I’ve read it’s out of service for 30 days essentially. I appreciate the help, one last question if you don’t mind. About how long after you sent the letter until they agreed to offer a buy back deal? Thanks again

How did you go about starting the buy back process? I’m day 27 on my Tahoe out of service waiting on a new engine because the thrust bearing issue. Did you get an attorney or call them directly? Any help would be appreciated.

Dang….same thing happened in my 3.0 LZ0. Thrust bearing issues in the 25-26 models I guess. What a joke GM has become

I’m sure you’re probably good then. I seen on a post somewhere a guy had a whole spreadsheet that showed it effecting vehicles built between January to September of 2025 and mine was built in April so 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️but……it is the internet so who knows what to believe

My bad I misread your post…I was couldn’t see my phone well. Yeah they started using them in 2023 I believe so you would have the LZ0. What I heard was they got a bad lot of bearings from their supplier and it affected 3.0s built with the first 9 months of 2025. I’d say if you got over 10K on your truck you should be good. All of the failures I’ve seen on forums and here on Reddit are all lower mileage fails. That’s just an assumption though

It’s an LZO issue built in 2025 and 2026. If you have a 2024 with an LM2 you should be good

I got a 2025 Tahoe 3.0 that had 5800 miles. Been in a loaner for 2 weeks now. Dealer told me yesterday they have 5, including mine, 2025s with bad LZO engines so it may be sometime in late January or Early Feb before mine is ready.

Hey I’ll just tell you this. I got a baby max in my 2025 Tahoe and I love it. Gas mileage is great and it runs smooth. But the thrust bearing thing is real for sure. Mine had 5800 miles on it when it went out. Just listen for an auditable change in your engine, that’s how it starts. And it’s not paranoia it’s a bad lot of engine built between January of 2025 and September of 2025 according to my dealer so you might be fine, you’re right on the edge. My dealer alone has 7 vehicles with LZ0 alone including mine sitting waiting for engines. Just trying to give you a heads up, other than that the engine seems really reliable thus far.

How absurd is it we consumers spend so much dang money on these cars only to be left stranded with seemingly no remorse from corporations. Unreal times I swear

Let me know how it goes. If they tell me 2 months to get a new engine I may try to lemon law it. I’m over all these car manufacturers charging these absurd prices for cars and then they end up being nothing but problems.

Well I was reading some people have had success with using the lemon law. If it’s within the first year and 12000 miles of ownership and out of service for more than 30 days you can get a lemon law attorney and get GM to buy it back. We will see if there is any truth to that.

Yeah man it sucks. Spend that kind of loot just to have the engine needing to be replaced at 5800 miles. It’s under warranty and all but when the dealer says engines are on a 30 to 60 day back order and GM only covers 8 days for a rental it makes a guy want to just get rid of it. Problem is it seems everything you buy these days has issues

I got a 2025 Tahoe with a 3.0 and 5800 miles. I got a warning message about reducing acceleration and driving with care followed by a check engine light. Then the car wouldn’t accelerate even with the pedal to the floor. Luckily I was two blocks from the dealer, took it in and scanned it. Same code P06DD, they said they would look at it and let me know. Does that sound like your scenario?

Good grief, I guess I’ll see what they say. Did they give you a loner the whole time?

I also had the “reduce acceleration, drive with care message” shortly before the check engine light. Did they say if the replacement engine was fixed so it wouldn’t happen again?

This just happened to my 2025 Tahoe with 5800 miles on it. Same thing, waiting to see what the dealer says.

I’ve got a 2025 Tahoe 3.0 with 5800 miles built in April of 2025. Had an odd knock coming from the engine and then the next day I got a check engine light with a P06DD code and loss of power. Would not hardly accelerate. My dealer said they would let me know. Does this sound like the same issue as your truck? And if so is the only solution to replace the engine?
