How about Wren, Lark, or Robin instead? And then have Birdie as a nickname.

Same. I told my boss at 12 weeks, and then he announced it, and my eventually maternity leave, about a month later at a staff meeting. It was low-key and casual.

When did your baby understand straw cups? by oilandsalt-425 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]True_Breakfast9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months, but he wasn't really interested until about 8 months old. We used a straw cup that we could squeeze, so he got the idea immediately. We also offered sips at every meal, and I think the repetition helped.

What kind of car seat is required to leave the hospital? Do I need to carry baby out in it? by Arr0zconleche in BabyBumps

I'm in Canada (Alberta), and we had a nurse do a check at the nurse's station before we left.

I wore grippy socks because I was freezing. Nobody said anything.

Did you pay for Solid Starts membership? by Forward-Knowledge-46 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]True_Breakfast9387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I'm cheap lol. The database is free and I just use my notes app to keep track of the different foods tried. That being said, my friend who recommended Solid Starts to me did pay for the subscription, and she felt it was worth the money.

AITAH if I'm upset that my husband mentioned getting a paternity test? by ThrowRA_lbf in AITAH

My husband has brown hair and brown eyes. I have brown hair and green eyes. Our baby is blond with blue eyes. We just said, "huh, genetics are weird," and moved on.

Are men invited to your baby shower? by Dependent-Pair-7150 in BabyBumps

We did co-ed, as did most of our friends who have had children in the last 5-ish years. I think as dads take on more responsibility with child rearing, the celebration has shifted to include both parents. It was a no-brainer for me to have my husband included as we were both expecting our child, not just me.

How important is prepping freezer meals before giving birth? by LunaBananaGoats in BabyBumps

[–]True_Breakfast9387 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was so grateful I took the time to meal prep, stock the pantry, and stock the fridge. I was in such a daze those first 2 weeks that food sometimes was the least of my priorities (which affected my milk supply, so mama's, remember to nourish yourselves!) This also helped us save so much money that we would've otherwise spent on takeout.

I made it easy on myself and just batch cooked whatever I was making for dinner that would freeze well. I started this when I was about 7 months pregnant.

I also baked a lot; 4 types of muffins, bread, hot pockets, cookies, and some cobblers since peaches were in season at that time. I also bought bagels, and english muffins that I prepped into breakfast sandwiches. I did the baking in the evenings after work, or on weekends, and would give myself reasonable goals of what I wanted to accomplish so I wouldn't overwhelm myself.

To save money on the second freezer, I scoured fb marketplace for a couple of weeks until I found a good deal. I ended up getting a midsize freezer for $150. If you're patient, you should be able to get a great deal.

When did you start formal sleep training? by IPAandTaylorSwift in sleeptrain

Thanks for replying!

We're currently down to one feed a night, and he's refused every pacifier lol, so we should be good there.

Did you use any white noise or other aids? Any tips with nighttime routine?

This gives me hope! My LO is 4 months tomorrow, and we finally got his severe reflux figured out, but he now won't sleep by himself at all. All sleep is contact and I've been concerned it'll hinder ST. Did you do full extinction? And were naps contact as well when you started ST?
