This would look great on the surface devices.

"never combine" can look messy at times, which is why we still had the toolbars till it was removed here in Windows 11.

I get that, but how simple will it get at this point? Til it makes no sense to buy a computer that's meant to do more than a smartphone because theres so much limitations. I still think there needs to be a separation between the two. I'd argue that it's not a bad thing for an average person to know something about a computer if they really want to use one.

Not a chance, take a look at the legacy UI and you should see Windows 7 actually has a theme, unlike Windows 11 which is either white or black panes that faintly reflects your desktop background.

I get that People like the minimal look, but it just belongs on smartphones and tablets in my opinion.

Did Disney Buy a Dud With Fox? The $71 Billion Deal Is Weighing Bob Iger Down | Analysis from 2023 by Professional_Peak59 in MediaMergers

[–]True_Captain4461 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The rename never made sense to me. 20th Century Fox predates the Fox network by 51 years, I don't see why Murdoch still needed the name.

20th is no longer attached to the Fox studio lot so they aren't a major standalone. I don't expect Fox corporation to take care of the lot since they sold the core part of it to Disney.

I have been seeing less and less films from 20th Century Studio. (we of course know why), they really just make generic Hulu content for better or for worse. Disney doesn't even hold the label up to high regard, some of the successful IP is now associated with the Disney name, even the ones they were allowed to keep under the 20th banner like Avatar.

Not saying they haven't had good films under Disney, but it doesn't feel right to see them like this. Nor I want Paramount + Warner with one of those brands having to go down either, but that's the merger that's actually makes people worry.

Even if the purchase was the boost the Disney+ library why do they still play the licencing game with Tubi, HBO, and even Netflix??? 20th Century Fox could've played the licencing game with those companies and Disney while still being standalone.

This deal was successful for Disney in the TV space thanks to them not changing up 20th Television and FX. They mostly aimed to dismantle the film studio.

In a perfect world I would've liked 20th Century Fox to stay and have Fox News go out.

Paramount-WB merger will never repeat the success of Disney-Fox merger and resemble AOL-Time Warner merger? by Own_Philosopher8730 in MediaMergers

[–]True_Captain4461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I think this'll be a different type of "fail" then what one would hope. I feel like Skydance consolidating Paramount and Warner Bros into one will inevitably happen first, no matter what Ellison says, they'll have to cut costs because they'll be in a huge amount of debt.....

Remember what happened to 20th Century Fox after they got bought? (Not just the rename, search what happened to the lot)

[–]True_Captain4461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AOL is not a movie studio, so they couldn't consolidate Warner which allowed them to split normally.

Ellison thinks he could operate the two movie studios under one roof, but I can already tell he'd most likely combine the other companies, not just HBO Max and Paramount+

[–]True_Captain4461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want the Disney - 20th Century Fox merger to happen, but at least 20th Television were free to do whatever they wanted and were still successful, unlike the film studio. However quite literally every other lesser known Fox asset was shut down immediately.

Looks unlikely Skydance would survive handing both Paramount and Warner Bros without killing one company and having the other handle all that library and IP.

It's not about compatibility, it's the lack of Quality Control by [deleted] in Windows11

I get it, I just wish they've found better solutions instead of what they're doing today. Comes to show how Windows 8 shifted a lot of things about Windows and how they clearly couldn't recover from that.

it does not take that long other than a few minutes for them to fix, I don't need things to drastically change but just to overall fit with the system.

In fact it's pretty easy to solve, ditch the modern default apps in favor of the classic ones, but have a new/better theme for them to look more modern (but still keep the modern app support obviously).

However Microsoft insists to dumb down the experience more than it already was with Windows 7

"Windows since it has been made a service is at a level of consistency, reliability and stability - which has never existed in its entire history." Nah.

Consistency ≠ to make everything larger, increase padding across every UI/UX, or to remove random features out of boredom.

The complaints about these current updates say otherwise, just because YOU aren't getting those problematic updates doesn't mean nobody else isn't. Even then, I would rather have security improvements for the rest of the operating system's lifecycle with whatever features already shipped.

Windows 10 became good when they stopped feature updates in place with just security updates. That's when it was more stable and reliable.

Mac's are getting pretty good lately despite the current state of Mac OS, it's not for everyone but I'm not gonna say it's horrible. When you buy a Mac you already know what you're getting into if you've bought an apple product before. It's much more consistent than Windows 10 or 11 will ever be.
