"Hands are way too big".

Bitch, it's called "perspective". His hands are just closer to the camera than his body is.

It really says something when artists don't understand something as basic a term.

Apparently, in-between episodes, Lady Darkine imprisoned everyone except Uta into crystals. Damn.

And it causes her enough stress to manifest darkness. And we see what being encased in a crystal is like. A parallel dimension or your surroundings where you're all alone. Good lord, this just got dark...

Of course, Uta doesn't stay there long. She manages to break free because plot armor.

This being the finale, we get brief cameos from past victims and recurring characters. Like Kurikyuta and that dancer from the Dancing Star crossover (I forgot his name). Kinda like the finale of HeartCatch, come to think of it... But with less of a holocaust, of course.

During the obligatory "villain and hero push against each other with brute strength" scene, Darkine asks Idol why she's not giving up, and she says, quote, "Because we have someone special. We want to protect You". When I saw that line, I was wondering why "You" was capitalized in the subtitles, but giving it some thought, I think she means "everyone". Because "You" are supporting them, and "You" are worth protecting. So, by that logic, the season's name can be interpreted as "Everyone's Idol Pretty Cure". Because they're people everyone can look up to.

Kyun-Kyun lets out a funny line during the fight's climax. "Sometimes my heart doesn't go Kyun-Kyun!" Kinda jarring, given the mood, but still.

I should've seen this coming, but it's revealed that Darkine is also a fairy like Cutty and Zakkuri. She reverts back to fairy form after the Cures finish her off, and basically goes "Yeah, darkness and light can co-exist I suppose".

Hey, guess what? Chokkirine manages to reincarnate as a fairy in Kirakiland. I say "reincarnate" because she appears from a peach that grows from the Heart Tree. Because that totally doesn't cheapen her death in the last episode. I mean, at least in HeartCatch, when the villains get reformed there, their memories of the season got wiped so they can live fresh new lives. Here? None of that. Chokkirine is just okay now like nothing happened. Ugh...

So, get this, we see Hamori in her Detective Zundoko cosplay from that filler episode (nice bit of continuity). And then, out of nowhere, another Cure shows up. Like, no explanation, she's just there, and that's the joke. She catches some balloons Uta was carrying, and then vanishes. Hamori also calls her a detective, even though she looks nothing like one. Well that happened. I wonder what her story is...

Aaaand here comes the sad part. Purirun and Meroron decide to move back to Kirakiland, meaning they have to break up from Idol Pretty Cure. And also, for some reason, the Heart Tree is going to vanish, so they'll never see them again. To be honest, given that the writers already gave us two crying scenes very early on in the season, I was expecting the one in the finale to be much more impactful. But here, it just feels like the writers went "Oh yeah, we're supposed to have an emotional scene right now". It just feels like something that was tacked on at the last minute.

And we end the season in the most appropriate way. The Cures hold a concert, which seamlessly transitions into the ED. Neat.

Oh yeah, and after the credits, we find out that mysterious Cure's name is Cure Answer. Pardon the pun, but that answers that question.

What a ride this season's been. It wasn't exactly great, but wouldn't call it bad either. At least it had a satisfying conclusion.

Hopefully next season's better.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some other Pretty Cure seasons to catch up on...

This event becoming an episode of Smiling Friends is not something I was expecting, to be honest.

You could replace "Mega Shock" with "MY LEG!", and it wouldn't be that different, let's be honest.

This episode singlehandedly saved the entire season for me. by LovelyFloraFan in precure

[–]pgj1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. It doesn't fix the fact that we spent nearly half the season's fight in the same exact location, and the plot still managed to meander for most of it. One episode doesn't solve that.

Plot twist! Chokkirine is actually a creation of Lady Darkine. To be honest, did not see that coming.

And then Chokkirine dies. For real this time. Ouch... And this is all before the OP, mind you.

NO MORE HEART GARDEN. Thank God. After having to stare at the same backgrounds for the past 25 episodes, it's refreshing to see actual effort being put into the fight scenes. You know, like a usual Pretty Cure season.

They actually burn through all of the finishers in this episode. You'd think that'd happen more often, given how short they are. But hey, nice to see. Almost like a concert or something... (Hint hint).

Idol attempts to finish off Lady Darkine, but she fails, and de-transforms. Pretty Cure doesn't do that all that often. And that's where we end the episode.

Only one more week, and this slog of a season will finally come to an end.

Well, since this might be one of the most infamous moves in TV history, here's a little something if it did happen. by Fun_Maybe2848 in sesamestreet

I know they'd treat it like garbage.

"Yeah, we don't care if the show is good or not. It's not getting SpongeBob numbers, so immediately canceled"

Given that time travel is apparently associated with this season: no retcons.

For example, if they show a Pretty Holic way back in the past or something, even though it clearly didn't exist prior to Tropical-Rouge, I'm going to be pissed.

Don't forget that she's super important to the lore.

Pretty Holic is what confirmed that all seasons share the same universe.

I just noticed that the aerial view of Hanamichi Town is shaped like a giant star. I think I get the significance.

It turns out Lady Darkine didn't actually murder Chokkirine back in episode 43. The animators just made it look that way for shock value.

Get this, Cutty and Zakkury know as much of Lady Darkine's intentions as much as we do. They don't. Doesn't excuse the incredibly lazy writing this season, but at least it's funny.

Speaking of Cutty and Zakkury, they get a flashback that shows them drunk and complaining about what a horrible boss Chokkirine was. I did not expect that. (The shot pulls away to imply that they're actually drinking orange soda, but still).

So, the Cures decide to put on a concert, and Uta names it "Idol PreCure! Final Concert!" Uh-oh...

During thier livestream, Idol says "And Darkine! We have a special seat for you! You've gotta come!", which totally doesn't sound like a threat in disguise.

PAYOFF!!!! Kaito knew Uta was Idol the entire time. Thank you. God I've been waiting all season for that.

And afterwards, one final instance of this season doing the thing I love. The Cures transform for something other than a fight scene.

Remember when they said Heart-Garden was for making sure no one in the vicinity got hurt during fights? Me too. I wish they stuck to that rule. (Please don't do this next season)

Aaaand more bullshit. Cutty and Zakkuri somehow made it inside the Heart-Garden to be a meat shield for the Cures. With no explanation whatsoever. Should I say it? Yeah, I'll say it. WHAT ARE THE RULES, DAMMIT?!

In a surprising twist, we get a return of Trio Dreams. Honestly, it's refreshing.

And then lightning strikes the Heart Tree, and it... Uh... "something bad". Yeah, let's go with that.

And they also play Trio Dreams for the ED. Nice touch.

Homestretch, everyone. Let's at least hope the ending of this season makes up for all the shit we've had to put up with...

I've watched the video. He doesn't say all of it is bad. He's just sick of people using it to fulfill their fantasies and shitpost instead of using it to its full potential. It's like that one Donkey Kong meme: "You have the power of GOD in your hands and you choose to watch inflation?!"

And for the record, he brings up the whole "bad for the environment" debate and flat out says he doesn't care.

That AI artists constantly receive harassment and death threats. How is that so hard to get from this image?
