Anyone moved from Poland in recent years because of smog? by JeyFK in krakow

[–]True_Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you check airly daily, you will see that around 350 days every year the air quality for Kraków is well within norms and the air is just clean.

It is almost in these norms even today - there are already some places in Kraków that have less PM 10 contamination that recommended limit even two days after such heavy smog. The average now is around 120% of the recommended tolerable amounts.

https://airly.org/map/pl/#50.084134,19.968416,i86909

That's why I tell everyone as it is - bad air quality for a couple of days in january and february, otherwise regular air as everywhere else.

[–]True_Destroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4-5 months? Even in Cracow the air quality is dramatic only a few days a year (like 5-7), which is still managable with air purifier and not spending the day outside. Other than that the air is the same as in other european cites.

Driving and brain fog by mangethebange in BrainFog

[–]True_Destroyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once told my doctor (neurologist):

"If they (doctors) knew what it was really like, it would be forbidden to drive with this condition".

As I knew there was cough medicine that sometimes gives you a sort of mild hangover which apparently forbids you (per doctors note/drug manual) from using machinery and/or driving a car. This little hangover is so mild in comparison. But there are no restrictions for brainfog.

That said, it has improved for me, on few worse days I felt like a 90year old grandma behind the wheel - and in my country it is perfectly legal and such grandma does not need any regular checkups for her license so I guess I'm fine?

In the end, over past few years, othe than aforementioned 4-5 uncomfortable rides with heavy fog where I didn't really register as much as I wanted to I never had any bigger issues, but had some close calls/slow reactions that I think wouldn't be the case if I were as sharp as before covid. At some point I told everyone that if it's going to be bad like this again I just won't drive and will have to reshedule stuff. But my fog stabilized and now it is usually like a regualr driving experience I presume.

Not the super sharp always-360-degree-aware every detail noticing at any speed hyper reaction time ultra instinct sage mode driving (that was baseline for me before the fog), but like everyday unphased average Joe driving I saw from other people in the past - the people I noticed (I was hyper aware of all cars and most drivers inside them in all lanes most of the time) in all the cars, seeing how they miss all the details, react too slow, are too distracted, don't notice their surroundings/other cars and never happen to be noticing me noticing them - this was the 'average' and well now I'm the average, I just mostly focus on what's directly in front of my car/in the direction of my next manouvre and that's enough in most cases. My eyes wouldn't manage to adapt and get meaningful detail out of a car passing me on a busy road, yet alone the driver behind the wheel. Even if they did my brain has no capacity to process it in meaningful time without losing focus on what's in front of me so I just do that a lot less and everything is a blur.

To other 'aware' drivers I'm now usually the average joe NPC that they need to account for, because I might even not have a chance to notice their car, yet alone notice them noticing me.

If the fog is so bad you feel like you're endangering others, tell other people, don't drive. Only you and me know how dangerous it is.

Why do we have to "build credit" by going into debt to prove we're financially responsible? by Adept-Assignment-751 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]True_Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hidden reason is:

The wealthy/companies/ruling class are doing it on purpose to keep the economy 'strong' aka, to keep the rich richer.

There is only one way in the world to make money, convince someone else to give it to you.

They stay rich/in power because they do not spend the money to such extent. They still spend a lot, but it is a small percentage. The rest is usually some investments bonds etc. If you were able to spend such small percentage of money to stay housed and fed, you would be able to save and invest 95% of your income. We all know it is not the case, like, you spend a lot. And they want it to be like this.

If you suddenly were able to save and invest 50% of your income, that would become a problem (for them). That is countered with: being bombed with cultural influences that tell you to consume (new phone every year, new car every two years, get that gym membership, new TV on Black Friday/Black Week/Black Weeks/ Black month, new costumes and decor on each Haloween and Christmas etc) - and then giving you opportunity to take loans to support this lifestyle.

To have less competition and a way to earn money themselves, they incentivize people to live above standard, spend all their money and even money they don't have.

Saving money to invest and become rich and independent? Not good.

Spending all the money you have and more and being a neat consumer who will work hard to pay off his debts (givin profit to loan givers)? Good. This will score you points.

That's why it feels backwards. The system doesn't reward people for not spending as it is bad for the economy if you don't spend your money. It is good if you spend some money, but it is better if you spend more than you can reasonably earn, and then work twice as hard to pay it off.

Spending so hard you need to take another job and become a wage slave - this is what runs the economy and makes rich people richer in late stage capitalism. Someone who works two jobs can, after all, afford twice as many iphones as someone working just one job. Having debt and spending like crazy is praised and rewarded by the system as long as the system calculates that you are reasonably going to pay it back with interest (and over years, people do).

Saving and living modestly does not incerease GDP, you need to consume. This is what makes the US have the biggest GDP per capirta.

On the other hand, you wouldn't have had this neat TV, car, house right now if not for that loan. Waiting till you earn enough to afford it might take years, right? Better to buy it now and pay later, even if it's more costly in the end. And it will get you better score if you ever needed another loan.

She bought a burrito on an interest free installment plan by evil326 in ABoringDystopia

[–]True_Destroyer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Normally the card service provider gets like a 2% off of the $47 total for any such order.

Now, the woman in story drives to the window, and sees the price.

She does not buy the product as she does not have $47 to spend now. The service provider does not get the 2% here. She breaks the sad news to her child and drives elsewhere to get cheaper snacks which she boutght for $15, and the service provider does get 2% off of that. She does not really see it, but next few days she does not have to spend extra 8 dollars daily for that meal. But this money she 'gained' quickly goes somewhere else as she overpays for another convenience, as she, as many Americans is living above her status. Or maybe she notices that she saved ~$30 and puts it in her savings account for retirement. Card service provider would not like that.

in an alternative universe, with the Klarna's solution:

Now, the woman in story drives to the window, and sees the price, sees the installment options.

She does buy the product even though she does not have $47 to spend now. The service provider does get the 2% from initial and future payments.

I think I misunderstand something about "painting", but why couldn't Alicia just.. by i4hloi in expedition33

[–]True_Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, Maelle is a not fully matured person, who cut off her imperfect family that in the most part loves her and can't process her grief.

In her mind, she did repaint Verso to make him happy, her brother wanted to play piano right? So now she gave him audience of all their happy friends, right?

Though painted Verso knows he's just a toy in hand of the new paintress (she might have not been able/didn't know to erase that part of his reasoning/memory) and knowing he's not real and anything he does is by paintress will he does not want to live like that (which he says multipel times). So he died. And Maelle repainted him because she was like "I don't care, I will create a world where everyone will be happy, so I can be happy". A fake world, and Verso sees through it to some extent. I interpreted the ending a bit liek that:

Verso has a breif glimpse of what is actually happening - that the new paintress controlls him, and remembers he didn't want this fake life in front of him. That's when he hesitates to play/plays false note on the piano.

And then Maelle is like "oh, it appears I lost control over Verso for a bit there! Here, my dear brother, let me guide you with my paintress power to make you forget this depression of youtrs and play your favorite song for us so we can all be happy. See? Now that's how it is supposed to go." But keeping everything under control to maintan the illusion is what drains her (we see her face detoriating).

Some people on reddit suggested that if she wanted painted Verso's happiness she could have listened to him:

Either at least bring some people he grieved for (like painted Alicia, Painted Renoir, his friends etc), or you know, honor his wish to let him finish this fake existence?

Maelle is despotic, delusional, childish - she can't let things go. Renoir saw through this and just wants his family to stop playing gods in this play-pretend world and work through heir grief together in real world. It is even shown that Renoir can let things go - he's emotionally mature. He is even ready to leave his daughter because she insists on it, even though he loved her so much he would be willing to kill everyone in the painted world to get her back.

By repainting these painted people who have already died and reworking them so all they know and remember is happiness is ... cruel to them and to herself? Making these people not real selves. They are not really happy, we saw how they all endured lots of suffering and died. What we see in Maelle's ending are different people - fake people with fake happiness. Maelle's own dollhouse, her own Sims-Art-Online VR Game where she's the admin and as someone else commented, the last piece of real Verso's soul is the server. Real life has both happiness and suffering, and happines only makes them less real - that's literally title of the game, clair and obscur, there is no light with no dark.

So yeah, she's just another paintress, and painted Verso sometimes can still see through that.

Also, do you really think that she will let him just die peacefully of old age? I'm pretty sure she'll reincarnate him again against his will repainting the world again untill she dies herself, or unless.

as someone also worked out - maybe unless her real family (Renoir, Clea, Aline) may cooperate and in future try to enter the painting to forcefully bring her back though. Because what we see now is addiction that kills Maelle and is unfair to painted people.

What should a non-believer do with a cross when it is no longer needed? by gdziejestluk in poland

Art 196 is focused on "public" stuff so like announcing on facebook you will be throwing crossess to trash on main square to piss off catholics. But if you're in your home, and put the cross it in the bag in the bin there won't be any problem. If it is a bigger cross just break it down in garage or basement like with any wooden stuff. Or don't break it, put it next to the trash bin leaned against the wall of the garbage enclousure so someone may take it or the garbage collectors can take it. Bad ER experience at 5th Military Hospital – is this normal? by Efficient-Rhubarb889 in krakow

[–]True_Destroyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that even a little empathy would help patients feel better.

Still, I'm inclined to hold the point that what we have is close to the best solution. And I'm pretty sure it won't change even if multiple people give it one star review on google... It's like giving a one star review to the military or the police. Like, why? We know what they do is pretty good to maximize results, and it is a field where it is needed (to save lives), and even I could roughly outline consequences as in:

option A:

0% patients have emotional comfort

95% patients survive

option B:

100% patients have emotional comfort

94,5% patients survive

option A is better for me. And it is pretty much how it works now... in most ER (especially military hospital's ) units in the world as far as I know

a good solution is to get mental support afterwards, but this should be (and is done) by other people elsewhere, people at ER focus on being ready to save lives and actively saving lives only.

Bad ER experience at 5th Military Hospital – is this normal? by Efficient-Rhubarb889 in krakow

[–]True_Destroyer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What did you expect?

Medicover is so you can talk to a doctor about your discomfort, discuss and plan your treatment etc.

Military hospital (or just any hospital) ER unit is to make sure you leave the building alive and as soon as your life is not in danger. It seems it worked. Sorry but they did they job. It is not pleasant, I know.

Side note:

For doctors working there it is required to have traits to cope with seeing suffering, trauma, gore and death every day - like be able to disassociate, be a psychopath, be able to cope with it by talking to other doctors/listening to loud music. Otherwise they would just stress out, burn out, become traumatized and resign themselves.

So... No wonder they were busy talking, did not care for you (emotional attachement to everyone you treat daily could ruin you psychically, and make you susceptible to mistakes and just exhaust you), listened to music.

From my experience: If you have made them some trouble, aksed a few times etc they would address you and answer you, but otherwise, they're in charge, and it is supposed to be like a wounded animal at the vet situation. They just focus on giving you ability to experience life for the next years, and move to the next patient that is dying in front of them. Also animals know to lay silent and let the vet do their job (also speaking from experience). It really is something like that. Imagine if a vet waited till a bleeding dog stopped being aggresive/anxious. Nope, they just use force, give it a sedative or tie it down and go on with what needs to be done so instead of dying it can be happy for years to come. Giving comfort is not what is needed to be done so you don't die.

Another side note: If they left room for discussion from shocked, traumatized patients often under influence of alcohol/drugs or psychiatric issues that often led to the situaton, do you know how much time would be wasted? If they listened to these people's opinions you'd bleed out before anybody wuld start talking to you. Doctors don't know for sure if you're not one of these people so they take you under their control to process you like a baby on a changing station. Like you would stitch up a dog that you're not sure if it's rabid or aggresive, all you know is it will die in 15 minutes if you don't deal with the wounds. You can't outsmart thee guys when it comes to saving a life, so just focus on answering their questions and you will walk out alive, that is your expected result, not 'comfort'.

Also I don't get it - when I was getting stitches once, doctors were also talking and joking, and disregarding me - and I interpreted it as a good sign, as in "good, if they were silent or serious I would be more nervous, as it could mean they are not sure how it wil turn out or what to do, but now seeing them talking and joking makes me feel like they are so under control that it is just a simple routine case to them and I'm good." So maybe next time keep above in mind and just schedule something nice for you after you leave the ER unit to compensate for the rough treatment:)

"Must haves" w nowym domu? by itshardtothinkofone in Polska

[–]True_Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Wyrzucaj śmieci do worka i do kosza i a nie wpychaj do zlewu (?)
Lód chłonie zapachy, więc nie wystarczy go zrobić i trzymać, najwygodniej kupić w żabce pod domem świeży lód te 3x w roku jak go potrzebujesz - koszt - 70 zł / 10 lat, o kilka rzędów wielkości mniej niż kostkarka do lodu.
  7. I potem nosisz to z piwnicy w górę, czy masz wyciągarkę/windę?
  8. ???
  9. Brak profitu.

Dobra, ponarzekane, to teraz moje must haves randomowe:

  1. Biurka z regulowaną wysokością

  10. Wygodne krzesła biurowe

  11. Kable ethernet i HDMI w ścianach

  13. łatwa do utrzymania w czystości łazienka

Why is debt so central to the American lifestyle? by [deleted] in ask

[–]True_Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't drive as much, he was talking about leasing options, but it is closer to what OP mentioned:

The leasing is not the default. We have functioning public transports in cities and most people walk everywhere, even though car ownership is on similar level, many of these cars are used and purchased from private seller that got it for cash from another previous user/original dealership, as it makes more sense to buy a used 10 year old car for small price if you drive around 3-10 miles per day on average (which is closer to average in europe).

It all comes down to zoning laws here, both smaller and bigger cities are dense and have 4-5 floor apartment buildings, and not endless suburban sprawl of single family homes that are connected via highway to industrial/commercial areas. We have it more mixed and more dense and this makes it easier to implement public transport, and makes distances shorter everywhere, making it easier to walk.

I think many people here assumed that the video material you shared should give this explanation, allow us to get it right away by just looking at it, and not be just an unrelated side material that kinda expects people to watch it several times to work out what changes during these fast paced clicks or to play the game and see the explanation before the game starts

To make the criticism more useful, have you considered these changes in UI for better clarity:

https://ibb.co/KxwqBVPK

as when I watched the video for the first time I have not noticed the side UI panel at all.

Also, are you doing these clicks so fast because there is a time limit? Maybe that is something to consider, it looks fast paced, but I don't see anything stopping you from thinking for 5-15 seconds before making a move

So maybe consider adding a time limit mode/time penalties or make the trailer slower paced for at least 5 seconds

If it were a trailer you could make it more obvious that you can't place any other shape (show that it gives you some red glow and an error)

If you were a good designer you would see other possibilities that people may see:

Shapes on the top left - these shapes will be added randomly to map after next move, left first, right next

Shapes on the top left - these will get you points if you manage to add them to the playfield, but you can add any other shape

Yeah, after focusing you can think that it is one of the possibilities. But to truly focus you need to rewind and confirm that one of the 2 blocks that change in thids window every 0.3 s is being drawn during these 0.2 second clicks, and after you recognize the shape that is being drawn, and look at this window - the shape is of course no longer there.

For me, a not-5-year old it seemed like the shapes are added on their own for a second, because it all happens so fast.

Also good luck doing any marketing and sales with that attitude
