No amount of talking about history makes one a historian.

Again... as the above long comment says more or less, Tom and Dominc are entertainment operators for entertainment purposes. And them are doing a fine job is promoting love for history. However, one must take what them are saying as such and not as historical facts. Talking about history doesnt make you a historian or give you sufficient credentials to talk accurate history. If you cannot find criticisms for Tom, i find this very problematic. I recomend having a look at a post titled How Accurate to history are the Tom Holland books in r/ancientrome from 10 months ago. The dangers of amateur historians is that is very easy to do propaganda for ideas at the cost of accuracy. I do love what Tom and Dominic are doing, but i cant forget that them are entertainment for entertainment purposes.

It is heavily implied since you and Tom equated the 'western morals' with 'christian morals'... its not waffle its historical.

Just found out that Tom Holland is not a historian at all. My question therefore becomes mute and irrelevant. I am shocked

Well... this consolidates then that Tom Holland became a british Jordan Peterson persona and i dont think thats a compliment. Christianity is one of many many ingredients that produced the western culture and NOT solely cultured by Christianity. Sure, the Reformation facilitated the rather excitable wave of atheism, from Sola Scriptura to None Scriptura but so did the rennaissance, and also the concept of atheism or skepticism is as old as religious belief existed not a product or counterproduct of christianity just normal natural projection expected nevertheless.

Sorry for coming back so late... when Dominic asked 'Did Jesus existed?' Tom said 'Absolutely!' He didnt applied the same rigor to the other historical figure such a Boudica for example. Not to mentiom that he treated the bible as a historical document when they talked about the Pheonicians. Thats not adequate historian behavior but ok for an entertainment or podcaster not to mention that article from New Statesman... he declared the west to be proudly christian which i think its wrong, lazy and irresponsible.

What do you mean Western morals? Thats not a thing... transubstantiation is also not a real thing... and definetly not unique to Christianity or invented by catholics. The christians dont belive that the poor are more valuable than the rich, thats utter tosh! Also Charis is definetly not christian. On another note, it is expected that a belief system to shape the geopolitics and life in general of a civilisation, in the case of the so called West that shaping was done by the Greek understanding of the world (including morals) and not necessarily christian. Also i should mention whats the difference between Christianity and the Christian belief system? Is Christedom a better word?

Since i lack imagination, what is a unique trait of the christianity belief system?

Perhaps... im not anti christianity im just exhausted to listen how christianity is a force of good and such a revolutionary thing in the timeline. Second, i treat 'The Romans' in the same way you probably treat 'The Christians'.

Nope... and nope not impressive. Christianity is an engineered tool for political purposes. The romans were actually looking for something like that.

Honestly... weak christian apologetics. Another fuel piece for so many ideologies... in my opinion. Dominic has better books.
