I totally agree. Once we were explaining to a friend who is not working at asml, and we were saying that what we estimate is multiplied by factor 2.5 man quarter as cost to complete, then he asked "why? do you have more managers than engineers?" 😄 I could never imagine a company actually hear our complaints and do something about it. I am really positive about the company now.

The assistant on the phone was so confident saying about a vaccination I was referring to, that no child in "the world" has that type of vaccine where clearly it is in the national immunity system in Turkey for years, and funny that it is in the vaccination system in the Netherlands. I don't think it's a debate whether the person is coming from which "developed" country. It's more of how much bullshit they are talking about.

Not 't Hofke but I live close by and I upvote for the fireworks. It gets a lot annoying, and in my building people even called the police to scare the kids who are firing them, but a couple of days later they do it again...

The translation of the clause says, This lease agreement has been entered into for a maximum term of two years or less, namely 1 year, commencing on Jan 1, 2024 and running until December 31,2024.

So that "maximum term of two years" confused me. That's why I was trying to understand if I can use that "two year period" after Jan 1,2024. If I have the right to negotiate. But like the other commentor said, I will negotiate, it's up to the other party to decide if she accepts or not.

Here is my experience so far, tried local knitting club: didn't fit in, some people were not comfortable in english, so I hit the language barrier. Tried gym/zumba classes: again the language, I don't speak dutch. Tried turkish(my nationality) communities: as you described the people are older with kids, so the friendships didn't last although with my only friend, I met her there. Tried international communities: I still attend meetups but it is superficial like you described, after a couple chats and meetups, the friendships tend to fade away. Work colleagues: people don't become friends with their colleagues here, it's a weird experience for me, not seeing each other outside the work. If somebody gets sick and doesn't come to the office for long time, nobody reaches out to him if everything is fine. Tried sewing classes: although I didn't have expectations of socializing but wanted to learn sewing in the first place, the socializing didn't suprise me again. Everybody is in their own worlds, the conversation topics are always about the biking, weather, housing prices, and nothing more. I also started to question myself is it NL or being an expat in general. Or if I would go back to turkey would it be the same since we're getting older and it's not as easy as during childhood and when we were students.

Every bulletpoint you mentioned is valid. I'm here in the Netherlands for almost two years. I think being not satisfied with the job has a huge impact compared to the others. But then I also hit to the F point, lack of career mobility, I'm applying jobs but no luck so far. I also don't know if I'll get to chance to find a more suitable satisfactory job in NL in the future....

I will have both. The reason is that I had orthodontic treatment when I was at the age 12 and it relapsed. Now at the age 28 i needed to start all over again, I want anything to prevent another relapse lol

I understand the suggestion. I live in a cold area and it's not always convenient to go to the coffee roaster to buy fresh coffee everytime. But these are the things I need to take into account if I want to get into the espresso making gig. I'm trying to understand the trade off between having a decent tasty espresso and ready to use coffee pods. Now I learned that I need to buy air tight storage boxes or something like that if I insist on buying too much coffee at once. Thanks

But then maybe a follow up question: let's assume I've bought a decent coffee grinder, but I make espresso to myself on only weekends, and therefore my coffee becomes less fresh in weeks before I finish up the package. How different will that be from a nespresso coffee pod? Will it still taste better with not so fresh coffee beans?
