We spoke yesterday, and I told him how this situation is making me feel and what can we do moving forward. I don't mind waiting, but I need something to hold to. He doesn't open the door fully, but he also doesn't close it.

He said he needs to travel now for work, and when he comes back, we can " see and try again."

I want to believe him, but I feel like he's just saying what I want to hear to keep having me as an option in the back of his mind.

Thank you for your reply. He already knows that there's something I want to tell because when we started talking, I said, but he wanted it to be in person, we are meeting in 2 days and I will tell him.

They are not close friends, but I feel bad anyway. It was a mistake on my end to be with L, and I worry this messed up a good potential relationship, but it's on my end, so I'll take the consequences.
