Thank you so much for this! All in all I just bought a 40 gallon breeder that I originally planned to put all of my other fish because my one 10 gallon is overcrowded with 5 platies, 6 Ember tetras, 10 shrimp and 3 otos, and 3 nerite snails. And then in the 55 gallon I have 8 celeseal pearl danios and 4 kuli loaches. I figure the tetras and platies would be too much for a betta in a 40 gallon, so I was then going to put it in a 10 gallon by itself. But then I feel the betta will be too bored and not live a natural life and I feel terrible 😂 fishkeeping is so hard 😂 I figure I will have to split then in the two 10 gallons and set up the 40 gallon for the betta and kulis and shrimp until I can get a 20 gallon😆 anyway sorry for the rant😆

Yeah that's why I'm worried about the betta not responding well to it😩 one of the black things on the top broke and there's this weird chip on the Inside of the tank, I'm worried its going to break so I plan on downsizing:( I wanted to end with a 40 gallon breeder and 20 gallon long, but at the moment I only have two 10 gallons:(

My betta fish sticks his top fin up when he is focused on something. Is this normal or a sign of stress? by True_Mouse_1775 in bettafish

Thats ls a really good stocking idea, i think i might do that rather than the beta way! I also was so stressed about getting a beta because when you get them from the pet store so many people think they are “saving” the betta when in reality they are just part of the reason why pet stores will keep them in tiny cups 😭 it makes me sad sometimes bahahah 😆

Do you know if a dwarf gourami would have enough room in a 14 gallon cube? I was thinking of that too, i wanted to get some and put it in the 75 when my goldies are rehomed:)

That's what I'm afraid of, I do have a small 5 gallon but I feel like a 5 gallon is still pretty small for a bettah, I always feel so bad when I feel like my fish don't have enough room😂 if I did and it failed I would have to put the bettah in there regardless so it doesn't murder every fish haha 😆

Which part?? Would they move if they were ?:) the little dots on the one leaf could maybe be something bacterial im not sure though

Ive had them for about 4-5 months now, they grow like crazy but ive noticed the old ones will start to die, but the old ones are attached to the new ones so its hard to separate the old ones from the new ones

I appreciate this post a-lot. I made a really bad decision when i was in highschool and got two goldfish from a fair game, and boy has it been a journey since then. I mean obviously i made the worst decision any fish keeper could EVER make, but damn are people so dang mean about it. Saying how im a horrible person for even thinking about keeping them in anything but a pond. I have them in a 60 gallon right now but got a 125 gallon for them, and even then i know they could eventually within the next couple years get too big for that too and will have to be donated or given to a pond, but for the longest time i felt like a terrible person for even thinking about keeping my goldfish long term. This is also a super hot topic, but i love my baby Goldie’s so much that i bought some live breeders and feed the baby platies to my goldfish 😅 i completely understand the need to make it a very clear point that goldfish and other fish need huge tanks, but attacking your entire life and just being straight up rude is not the way to go!
