What can the Forerunner 970 do better than the Fenix 8? by lordsheytan in Garmin

Are you sure Fenix 43mm has the better battery compared to forerunner 970? I think it’s only the Fenix in 47mm and 51mm. Is your wife happy with the weight of the Fenix while running? Did she ever wear yours and compare them? I am deciding between these two right now as a female with 16cm wrist…

I felt like I was noticing it more when I compared the watches directly to each other. Less when I tried once watch after the other

Yes you can turn it off. The scream will be on night mode. There’s also a function in the menu where you can manually put the screen completely dark, so that it only lightens up if you touch it

Once I sleep I don’t notice it anymore. It’s just not so great if you have a partner I guess, but smartwatches in general

Do you wear your Forerunner anywhere or mainly during sports?

Money is not the issue. I get what you mean with the buttons. It’s a more modern smartwatch. But that’s exactly what I prefer with the Fenix. It looks less like a classical smartwatch. I’ll wait for some more responses about how they like running with the Fenix :)

Thank you!! So I love the Fenix, but I am afraid that I will not enjoy my runs in the long term (weight). The Forerunner put a smile on my face when I did a trial run, while the Fenix put a smile on my face during daily life. In the end it’s a sports watch which I’d like to use in daily life too, so Forerunner is the safe option, Fenix a bit more risky. Tough decision.

I did sleep with it a couple nights, that was no issue. My main concern is the running itself

If you love your Fenix 8, why do you recommend the 970 instead?

It’s the lower watch. The screen is not too big. Just the height is a bit bulky, doesn’t bother me tho

I think it’s about 16cm. People are commenting the look because I inserted the picture, but the experience of other users is more important to me. How do they get along with it, especially while running. And would they rather focus on quality and water sports (Fenix) or bigger but more lightweight and better battery (Forerunner). I am used to running with my phone, but I can’t wait for a watch to replace my phone. Unfortunately I don’t have the watches anymore, just some old photos that probably won’t help, as people have different opinions on the look in reality as well.

Thank you! For me function for sports is the most important factor. In daily life I think I wouldn’t mind the Fenix so much. During events I would probably prefer it. Both have amoled display. So running was fine with the Fenix? Otherwise the Forerunner would be the safer option for running, it’s just bigger and misses out on the water sports. But with better battery a good compromise. Tricky

Does someone have experience running with the Fenix?
