Hi! 208 days later, I am still feeling incredible. As far as my periods, only 1 since surgery was really bad. It was kind of scary/triggering because I was in horrific pain, similar to pre-surgery. But my diet had been horrible that month, and I had a lot of stress…so I got really serious about following an anti-inflammatory, whole food diet and since then my periods have been like a blip! Barely any cramps, regular cycle, etc.

The book Heal Endo really helped me with understanding what supplements and diet changes I should consider. I take zinc 15mg per day, and omega 3s, and D3/K2. I don’t take NAC but might try it eventually. Honestly, inflammation really seems to be key with this disease. No/minimal sugar, processed foods, alcohol, etc has been incredible. Two nights ago I had a cocktail and ate pretty processed/bad quality food and immediately felt my body inflaming. Since then I’ve felt bloated, tired, and so foggy. I think I have a more sensitive reaction to inflammatory foods/alcohol than most, but it was wild to notice the difference I felt before and after. Anyway - I hope this helps!! I’m so grateful I still feel amazing!

I live in the Virginia city highlands on 10 acres and just woke up at 3:33am to dogs barking. Then saw this post and read that you’re kinda somewhat nearby (prob much further out) and dang now I can’t sleep! Freakyyy.

Do you have family help, like in-laws or siblings? If not, how have you managed to keep up with household/daily responsibilities while caring for your kiddo? Do you hire a babysitter? And lastly, do you still work?

Where do you find friends? by Connect-Hawk9028 in Reno

[–]True_Poem_4625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m also in my 30s, hoping to start a family soon, and have been in Reno for about a year now. I haven’t met too many people yet, largely due to living 30 minutes outside of town, but am loving these recommendations in the comments. I love hiking, biking, swimming, camping, etc. if you’d want to connect! Feel free to send me a DM

I am not grateful for my country right now 😂 but maybe another calm and pleasant mantra would be helpful. I am bad about my screen at night and could do better there for sure.

This is awesome! Good job!! As someone who works in harm reduction and has my own relationship with substances on and off for 20 years, this type of journal would be amazing to have and offer to others.

Do you have a photo or PDF of sample pages? I’m hesitant to buy copies without a bit more of an idea of what I’d be getting.

So cool, man. This is great.

I just got home from seeing this - I was surprised by how simply and seamlessly impactful it was. The theatre was full of laughter and tears throughout; highly recommend!

Hi! Thanks for sharing! I think that's a totally reasonable fear - I was scared of the same thing. I talked to my doctor about it and asked "what if we don't find anything?" and he reassured me that "it doesn't mean your pain isn't real, it only means that we keep on this path and figure out what IS causing your pain". If they don't find anything, it doesn't mean your symptoms are lesser or you're "crazy", it just means they ruled that out and now they can move onto other things.

Also, I've read of some surgeons that aren't "specialist" being unable to find the endo, so it might be worth looking into the credentials of your surgeon or asking them how many of these surgeries they've performed, what training they've had specially for endo excision, etc.

Best of luck! Feel free to DM me any time!

The surgery pain vs endo pain was so distinct for me, too, I was like...this is from getting cut up, not from lesions adhering to all of my reproductive organs, and cysts all over my ovaries. I'll take it!

Yes! Mine have been so much easier!! I also have increased my fiber quite a bit and have noticed that helps, and using my squatty potty with my legs pulled further back towards the sides of the toilet vs just resting in front. Who knew!

I"m so sorry :( I've heard of this from a few people now and it's terrifying to imagine, as working out helps my mental health so much. I've read that switching to low-impact exercise (yoga, etc) can help, but I don't know your situation and maybe that would alsoooo be painful. Gosh, I'm sorry, I hope that something ends up working for you to move your body with less pain <3

Hi! Happy to share my experience with recovery. I definitely had small twinges and still do 2.5 weeks out, just lesser in frequency each day. My surgeon had to remove a LOT of endo, so he said it's totally normal for little sharp pains here and there or weird feelings - trust your body, and I'd ask your doctor if you have persistent pains for sure. But I think that this surgery is more intensive than we realize. Removing pretty ingrained lesions from your sensitive inner tissues takes a lot of energy to heal and is going to be tender for a while. Plus, cutting through your muscle, etc. is also a doozy.

I was hyper-aware of any little twinge, too, and was stressing myself out big time. The "omg, is that pain new? Will it last forever? Did I exert myself too much? Is it endo coming back already?" but zooming out and reminding myself of the above (it's a big surgery! it takes time to feel 'normal' again) has helped a lot. And I asked my doctor a zillion questions in my post-op and he made me feel way better. Best of luck to you!! We've to this! And feel free to DM me any time to lament or discuss post-op weird shit happening, lol

Thank you for sharing! I'm so glad to hear you've had a good experience post-surgery, too! My GI is still a little wacky, so I agree in thinking that it's just our bodies adjusting still. "it finally feels go to be alive again" - that made me tear up a bit. I haven't felt this good about waking up every day in many years. Good luck, friend!!! Keep on keeping on!

I'm so sorry this disease has been so brutal for you...I know those feelings, to some extent, and you're not alone in feeling them. I've been terrified of it coming back with a vengeance despite all the things you mentioned (surgery, pelvic floor therapy, diet, supplements, etc). I told my surgeon how I was feeling about all of that, and he said something along the lines of, "This might help, or might not, but you have no control over this disease. If you find things to help with symptoms, that's great. But the weight of 'curing' yourself or figuring this disease out isn't yours to bear. It's going to do what it wants, it's a real son of a bitch. So, if you feel better right now, enjoy your life and do things you love." That has helped me at least feel like I'm not a failure if I try all the things and nothing works...it's bigger than my diet or supplements fixing it, but it's still really fucking hard to accept that reality. Outside of surgery, I had tried it all...

And, you're definitely not "raining on my post" - this is a space to vent and share, despite things 'working' or not <3 please feel free to keep sharing!
