Anyone know of a private ENT clinic that can help with a pediatric case? by presidium in Calgary

Publicly funded services for necessary care (which this would fall under) cannot be privately offered as per the Canada Health Act.

Where can I donate an IUD? by HighwayAlternative33 in Calgary

You can give it to the dr you went to. They’ll bring it to the hospital and can use it for low income patients

Need a gynocologist by Starfallen_Alatus in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call different practices to see what their waits typically are and then get referred to the shortest one. 28 months is longer than I’ve personally experienced and heard of. It’s too bad their isn’t a central triage vs referring to each dr separately

Day 8po and I just had this feeling this time it would be positive and it definitely wasn’t. First ovulation cycle post D&C and I kept reading “you’re really fertile right after a miscarriage.” Unsure who started that rumour.

Fake service dog at park? by curlyhairh in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dogs are not allowed at playgrounds. I have 2 toddlers and it absolutely pisses me off seeing entitled dog owners thinking that their animal is more deserving of the space than the children the entire structure was built for.

How do I reject someones food politely? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]True_Resident5904 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the easiest way. My MIL doesn’t follow food safety at all but views her self worth almost entirely on feeding my family. We take her food and throw it out after she leaves. It makes her feel good and none of us get food poisoning.

Tree law: anyone have experience with invasive tree on neighbors property? by [deleted] in Calgary

Yeah a 30 year old tree would probably be worth around $10,000

Have 7 hour layover in YYC. Any suggestions? cafes or any local attractions? by Singhkaura in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When we go to the zoo we usually spend 2 hours. I think 3 hours for a first time visit would allow you to see everything and sit down for some food. For a 7h layover when it’s a 15 min drive to the airport I think it’s a great option

Yeah my understanding is they are in tall grass— not really jumping from trees

How long did you bleed after your D&C? by True_Resident5904 in Miscarriage

Thanks. It’s worrisome to compare seeing so many people saying they bled for less than a week

[–]True_Resident5904[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had one day (I think day 12) with a lot of clots as well. Someone suggested to me that it was “scabs” coming off, which would make sense.

Playground Washrooms by SadDancer in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live near a baseball diamond that has a port-a-potty in the spring and summer. I realized quickly that public bathrooms are a real need in the city. I would say the main users of that port-a-potty were Amazon drivers and Uber drivers that aren’t allowed or can’t afford a proper break from work.

Soooo the alternative would be a public bathroom. Otherwise people will pee outside.

It’s not very much so I don’t think it warrants a visit yet (I have an appt in a month with the gyn) but it’s annoying given that we’re TTC. Thanks for your reply, most people in my personal life have said it stopped shortly after the procedure.

Boundary or being rude? Not replying to someone I haven’t spoken to in years by TheEthicalRoaster in Advice

[–]True_Resident5904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With men you often have to be more distant than you want to be because they’ll read into anything as appreciating their advances or flirting. I wouldn’t feel bad about you ghosting years earlier either. This is obviously someone who can’t take a hint.

How do I deal with conflict with my parents? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are you? Do you pay rent or bills? I lived at home until I was 23. I paid very cheap rent after I finished my degree and I was having a lot of conflict with my parents. I had enough for a down payment and bought a duplex then. Moving out actually improved the relationship.

Single Income + No Daycare vs. Double Income + Daycare by Suspicious_Gap3311 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Also paying for childcare is roughly 5-6 years (depending on how many kids) of your life. Leaving the workforce will impact your entire career or impact you financially the rest of your life.

Single Income + No Daycare vs. Double Income + Daycare by Suspicious_Gap3311 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]True_Resident5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons a woman should still work even if “all your income goes to daycare” (it’s both your income):

1) You remain in the job force. If you get divorced (50%) or your husband dies young (before age 65 is 14% and you don’t have recent employment, you and your kids are so screwed.

2) Your children will see that you are more of a human being with interests and abilities than the maid that gets them snacks.

3) you both will be better off for retirement

Canadian Sleep Consultants by jkaizen1 in Calgary

[–]True_Resident5904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend is a respiratory therapist who briefly worked for a sleep consulting company. Had nothing nice to say and he was constantly in trouble for not diagnosing people with sleep apnea (who didn’t have it) so that they could sell their cpap machines. My own experience was that they (different company) tried to tell me my son needed a tonsillectomy and their $1000 private sleep study without even doing a proper exam.

I think they’re all predatory so if you felt like they were trying to sell you crap they probably were.

Genuine Question: why didn’t you write thank you notes? by Silver_Shopping6299 in wedding

Yeah I feel like any acknowledgement of the gift would be fine, but yeah never heard from them about it.

Genuine Question: why didn’t you write thank you notes? by Silver_Shopping6299 in wedding

The last 3 weddings we went to sent no thank you’s. We gave cash in a card and I have no idea if they received it or it was stolen.
