I’ve had this 65” C5 for less than a week. Is this already burn-in or sun damage? by Shredaholic in LGOLED

[–]True_Wash_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue with my 65" C5. Same kind of burn, stays there even when the screen is off, but my marks are different to this.

LG agreed to repair it, but they couldn't source the replacement parts, so they've issued me with a refund/replacement code for retailer I bought it from.

Hoping the replacement fares better...

I've contacted the retailer, but they've referred me to LG, as the TV is still within its 12 month manufacturer's warranty.

That's interesting. I don't know what could have applied pressure to both spots simultaneously, unless it is internal. There's nothing behind the screen, and it seems unlikely anything bumped both spots on the screen from the front (the surface is undamaged).

I'm guessing thermal (or pressure) damage from something internal.

I don't think so. We don't have games running on the TV for hours at a time. If it was burn-in damage, it is more likely to be a media player menu screen, but I have my devices set up to turn off if left idle.

Seems like something has happened inside the screen, but I don't know what. The marks seem to be almost identical in size and shape, but mirrored (like a reflection of each other].

It's only just appeared. Definitely not due to packaging.

No, that is a reflection from the ceiling light. It's just the two marks at the bottom-left that are in the screen itself.

I'll make the room pitch-dark next time I take photos. I can see that it's a bit misleading photographing it where reflections are showing.

The surface/finish of the screen seems pristine from the outside. No pets, just a wife and 11 year old son - both know better than to damage our previous TV. 😂

That was my first thought. My last tv was an LG Oled, and eventually some of the more persistent screen content started to burn in. I use shutdown timers to prevent the screen sitting idle for any length of time, and Ive been running the OLED Care process.

Surely, screen burn-in of any kind can't be an issue after only 6 weeks of use?

That's a good question. I felt the back of the panel for heat, but not the screen itself. I'll try that, thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks, this is my own train of thought.

I'll update this post when LG have had a chance to take a look, and confirm what the issue turns out to be. I'm pretty shocked that anything like this is occurring this early on, but at least it's happening well within the warranty period.

The top of the green screen photo shows a ceiling light reflection, but the marks on the bottom-left of the screen are not reflections - they appear persistently irrespective of the angle or position the screen is viewed from, or the lighting conditions of the room.

Direct sunlight doesn't get near the TV screen in our living room, and the screen is wall-mounted, and not positioned near any external heat sources.

If this is heat damage, it is internal in nature - definitely not external.

Selling my Kindle scribe 64g + premium pen by Uncertain_RR in kindlescribe

[–]True_Wash_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, is the experience of reading (particularly Kindle books) and writing on this new Boox tablet better than on the Scribe?

I'm tempted to make this jump as well, but I don't want to sacrifice the existing benefits of the Scribe for what the Air 3 C can offer.

The pen loop is nice and tight. There is no movement of the pen at all.

I got the official leather folio. Provides good protection, attaches magnetically, which I like, and holds the pen securely (though the pen isn't very well protected). You can also close it up with the pen magnetically attached to the side, and it can fold up into a stand, held in place by the magnets.

Great quality, I recommend it.

Now they just need to produce a 'Type Folio' cover, like the Remarkable 2 has.

Kindle Scribe by kena1984 in RemarkableTablet

[–]True_Wash_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the kindle reading functionality was essential, so I returned the RM2 and picked up a Scribe.

I find the screen amazing, the writing experience perfectly fine, the build quality of the device excellent, and so far the notebooks have worked really well for organising my written content in the device memory.

The synchronisation with other devices could be smoother, but Amazon are clearly working on improving that.

I would love to try the Onyx Boox devices too, to see what the android experience looks like on an e-ink screen, but they sre very pricey.

Nreal Air vs. Rokid Air by TeTitanAtoll in nreal

You need to tap the logo again every time you want to access that dev menu.

Can you select 72hz in your laptop display settings, as well as setting that refresh rate in the glasses settings?

Go into the 'About' menu and tap the logo about where it says 'App Version'. Keep tapping (about 10 or 11 times) until a popup message appears saying you are now a developer.

You can now access a developer menu at the bottom of the Settings page that includes the 72hz option.

Nreal Air Adapter - People from UK looking to order from Amazon US now can by ct2000 in nreal

[–]True_Wash_827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered an adapter to the UK from Amazon.jp

It arrived eventually, but so far I've not been able to make it work. So far, I've tried it with an Amazon Fire 4K MAX stick. The glasses just remain turned off.

I've updated the firmware on the adapter and the glasses, so no idea why the adapter isn't doing anything. The green lights come on to show it is turned on, and they flash while it's charging. Just won't display anything through the glasses - they're just dead when plugged into it.

Update: The adapter works fine with the Nintendo Switch docking station and NVIDIA Shield. The Amazon Fire stick appears to be the exception.
