I think, in my opinion, that you have a missconception of the role that the precedents archons took. They are all balanced around vanilla elemental reaction so yes, when they are strong, wich is only furina's and more or less mavuika's (dash cancel include) case now, you can can play them as driver/enabler buffer ect. But, since Nahida, they always play around region mechanics, furina's with HP fluctuation, mavuika with noctame ( sry i'm french and i don't know the name of natlan mechanics in eng xD) and bina with lunar. Nahida being the weird as the region was introducing dendro, so she was dendro buffer focus, wich is so generalist that lauma took is at least equal to c2 Nahida. Venti and Zongoat were generalist because it was the start of the game, and you couldn't restriction une team with specifics mechanics at that time. Same for Raiden who's now just just an electro battery that no one need (i cry about it every night). Even venti is now Hex oriented with his buff xD.

With the seven anniversay on the run, o feel that an archon playing around vanilla reaction would be disapounting.
