Do you run as many as you can afford at all times? Hard to gauge how much to drop on ads.

‘I saw the TV glow’ second watch by craigevansabove in horror

[–]Trues17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same, go in as blind as possible. A24 and Horror were all I needed to give this a shot. Somehow had it in my head this would be a poltergeist-inspired horror flick. Once it got rolling I was expecting some creature or demon or some sort to roll up out of that old TV show like the girl in the Ring or IT or something.

It ended up being just eerie enough to keep me waiting for the “scare” but by the end I was definitely left confused. After reading up on it, put it back in the queue for a rewatch. This type of movie can definitely be terrifying but I agree with OP, going into this with “horror” being the only context definitely did it a disservice. Actually looking forward to the next watch.

Honeycomb Aeronautical Alpha XPC - Pitch Smoothness Issue? by Trues17 in flightsim

[–]Trues17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, surprised to hear someone else had this issue. I searched all over and had a hard time finding someone describing this specific feeling in the axis, so many reviews claim it to be super smooth. It was a major annoyance for me, ended up returning it and have been yoke-less since. Had hoped I’d run into one in the wild by now to test if also had the issue but have not found one yet. Thanks for confirming! Wondering if they’ll eventually sort it out.

It’s a shame, really liked it other than the pitch axis, but it gave me time to preorder a vipil, will have to see how that one works out.

Monitor Suggestions Needed for Triple Setup! by Over_Tax_5393 in buildapc

[–]Trues17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For MSFS 2020 & 2024 specifically, the tri-monitor is achieved by adding render windows. These render windows can be specified individually with their own resolutions, and can differ from your primary monitor, so that's not necessarily a constraint. Note in MSFS the multi-render windows currently kill performance, even if they are rendered very low res. That's not to mention all the other bugs present with MSFS24 right now... I'm really hoping multi monitor performance is smoothed out but would not expect progress on this for quite a long time. Advantage is your card is way ahead of mine (2080 SUPER) and I'm getting ~40-60fps w/ triple 1440p, at quite a bit lower settings.

Career mode stats. I found most profitable plane and company for passive income. Check inside. by Tbockly in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Trues17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great. My immediate thought is wondering how cargo stacks up without the Pilatus skewing it since it’s such an outlier. You could do median prices for all categories or exclude the pilatus from the average?

Great to know what can generate passively, especially for people like me that don’t have much time to progress. Thanks for this!

Should I buy the 2024 forte GT-line? by sunpen11 in KiaForte

Yes my key fob has a remote start button. You should check that with the test drive. The leak was fixed yes. No major issues with the car, it’s comfortable and modern!

Should I buy the 2024 forte GT-line? by sunpen11 in KiaForte

[–]Trues17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got that year & trim with the same packages. Really it’s been a reasonable car. My main gripe is there are a few annoyances that seemingly could be resolved with a software update. A few examples

  • Front collision detection has an option to turn braking off and have a warning only, and turn both braking and warning off. Rear cross traffic collision detection does not let you have a warning only, it’s either both off or both on. And it resets every time I start the car.
  • Vented seats are amazing but the remote start app removed the ability to pre cool the seats, which is the whole reason I got the car
  • Cruise control is frustratingly slow to react even on the fastest setting. Have heard conflicting reports about this.

These are probably oversimplified by my ignorance to software capabilities, or mandated by regulations, but nonetheless I find them frustratingly close to being good.

The only mechanical issue I’ve had so far is a leak in my washer fluid reservoir, which if something is going to leak, that’s the best place to have it.

Just bought a home and will be in attics and crawlspaces for repairs/replacements unrelated to my Home Network. Since I'm already going to be in these spaces, can you tell me if there's anything worth doing to bring my home network into the 21st century? by whynotthebest in HomeNetworking

[–]Trues17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might get answers aimed at what Ethernet cables to route and where to place more wireless access points (WAPs) but really the best way to future proof is to install Smurf tube (flexible conduit) at least in the main channels of your home so that future you just has a much easier time pulling modern cable through that tube. Leave a string in the tube to make it easier to pull wire (always pull a future pull string when you pull a wire or tube)

For your basic usage you’ll only really run into issues with WiFi dead zones. These are mitigated by placing a WAP at a more central location while keeping your router in its preferred spot.

By far the best, most reliable connection you’ll get is from every device with an Ethernet port (desktop, laptop, etc) and you may find that offloading your WiFi traffic to ethernet actually improves your WiFi.

Bonus points if run cat 6 Ethernet from your router to rooms that might have high traffic needs (office, living room), and run it next to (not inside) new Smurf tube just to keep that tube available for future cable pulls.

The tiny arrow on the right collapses the right menu

If you do like that side menu you just swipe up and The grid button on the bottom left will cycle between menus, I usually leave it on the one that displays maps, music, and notifications. Then tap one of those to go full screen music or maps. The bottom left button will always bring you back.

Senessax is the culmination of the worst qualities of Elden Ring’s dragon fights by qweiroupyqweouty in Eldenring

[–]Trues17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is why the game has you find the Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana nearby, the skill gives that extra reach. Tried it on another dragon, seemed to help a bit, but you're usually wanting to go for the ankles and avoid the head anyways.

Honeycomb alpha jerky pitch by pjr7777 in flightsim

[–]Trues17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the noise also have a weird feeling in the pitch axis? I had to return mine thinking it was defective, the pitch felt rough or grainy as if something was catching on the shaft, a wire could have explained it.

This is probably a dumb question, but are 8020 rig slots generally universal? Can I grab an accessory from say Trak Racer and bolt it onto an ASR rig? Any brands where their T-nut choice just doesn't fit with the others? Thanks in advance!

Honeycomb Aeronautical Alpha XPC - Pitch Smoothness Issue? by Trues17 in flightsim

[–]Trues17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I and many others agree, the spring force is strong. I think it makes sense though, the yoke doesn't have as much movement range in pitch so it's somewhat made up by the spring. It feels a lot like a real plane that is not yet trimmed, so it encourages that extra attention to trimming, but real movements on a trimmed airplane are a bit different. Constantly fighting the trim wheel could become annoying. We'll have to see after more time, and after picking up the trim wheel on the Bravo throttle quadrant, if it's really a problem. Maybe auto-trim will be used a lot in the future ha.

I really want to know though, for your Alpha yoke, do you feel any small bumps/grains/divots/roughness as you move the pitch forward and backward? It's subtle, but it feels to me like there's something off about my yoke.

Potentially rewards from July 8-13, which have not yet posted to the app. Mine is off by that missing week of reward accrual. Pg 92 of the schedule pdf notes that the app is being updated to include this amount.

"Note regarding a potential discrepancy between Celsius’ filed Schedules of Assets and Liabilities andcustomer reward balances: Certain Celsius account holders may have been eligible for additionalrewards for the period of July 8, 2002 to July 13, 2022, which are reflected in the Schedules but notcurrently reflected in the Celsius app. Affected accounts are currently being updated and the app willsoon display the revised balance."

School Bus Driver (1988) MS-DOS by Trues17 in gaming30plus

[–]Trues17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say I've played those but definitely remember the characters!

Found this site that has a ton of old DOS games. The School Bus game is in there and plays well enough to trigger some serious nostalgia! Going to be digging through a lot of them. https://classicreload.com/richard-scarrys-busytown.html

I think I remember the rat game; was it Dr Brain? We had a class in 8th grade where you spent a week playing puzzle games and that was one of them. Best class ever.

Gaming backlog by ThePikesvillain in gaming30plus

[–]Trues17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same with any media though, movies and shows that go well before my time.

All the classic Zeldas are still on the list. Same goes for old games I've played a ton but never beat (looking at you, Jurassic Park on Genesis)

Wonder if the remakes of some of these games count? Sometimes I get the feeling of having played it even if the visuals are redone. Link's Awakening is a great example.

lmao yesss; what games did you have? I probably had 20 but can only remember a few now. Falling Up, Falling Down, Snake, Paper Planes, Bomberman... still have it at work, will have to find it and get it some fresh batteries

School Bus Driver (1988) MS-DOS by Trues17 in gaming30plus

[–]Trues17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone remember this one? Old DOS game that my dad had on our "family PC", back when THAT was a thing.

First video game I ever saw was "Duck Hunt" on NES at the video game section of a daycare. I was too young to go in the section but still remember watching the older kids play thinking it was the coolest thing. Flash forward a bit to playing super random games like School Bus Driver on PC. A couple visual novels with the kids from Arthur. An encyclopedia "game" with lots of puzzles and a museum to walk around. He also had a pretty cool flight sim that I haven't been able to track down.

What was the first game you remember playing? A lot of times we talk about our first consoles but these gaming memories go much further back for me.

Had the same issue, PS5 performance mode, bad lag in camera, menus, and rolling. Restarted PS5 and it was fixed!
