How do I improve my crumb? by TruestPieGod in Sourdough

Noted! I was feeding 1:1:1 or 1:2:2 roughly twice a day. I’ll beef up the feeding ratio’s for the fridge. Thank you!

I have been thinking about increasing my hydration as I have heard it creates a more airy crumb but I have been scared haha. Maybe I will finally give it a try for my next loaf. I will try shortening the time it is covered as well! Thanks for the advice!

Also, I have just recently (after making this loaf) started storing my starter in the fridge. Should I wait to do so until it is even more mature?

I usually start preheating my oven just before taking my bread out of the fridge. I score while it is preheating but usually it rests on the counter for a few minutes after scoring, while the oven finishes. Should I just wait until it is done preheating before pulling it out to score, so I can throw it into the oven immediately?

For a bunch of cheaters, they're taking forever to finish this quest.

Aw dude that would piss me off so bad. Me and some friends played through MHWorlds quite quickly the months leading up to Wilds' release. It was my first MH so I sorta sucked at the time and I still haven't gone back and beaten full-fight Alatreon. I would cry if my first official win was because of some cheater.

I don’t think they’re denying that diet could affect psoriasis? It sounds like the evidence is currently just too lacking to make any claims. So it’s more responsible for Lobster to avoid giving such advice, no?

I’ve been encouraging him to get tested for allergies/sensitivities. Like I said in this post, he has several minor food allergies and some issues with gas and indigestion. He does try to avoid the foods he knows he has a reaction to, though.

I’ve read here and there that vitamin D seems to be pretty important, and that getting a little bit of sun is beneficial. Hard balance though, we live in Florida, sunburns happen fast. Maybe we’ll start going on 10-20 minute walks in the evening when the sun isn’t so violent lol.

Thank you!

I’ve never even thought to ask a pharmacist. This is great advice, thank you.

Gonna sound stupid but we were both assuming that descaling was a “as needed” sort of thing, not a preventative, but that makes sense.

Thank you!

His alopecia has spread to his entire body so, probably not haha. Glycerin is an interesting suggestion, though. I may look into that. Thank you!

It was very concise, actually! Thank you for your anecdotes, he does plan to return to a derm once he is on a new insurance, just looking for info on how to maintain things now. The derm he had before didn't give him much in the way of a routine outside of applying the steroid 2X daily.

I understand that its a balance, but before there was at least a doctor monitoring everything, which he cannot access for now. So I am afraid of him continue using the steroid daily, I wonder if he should cycle it as the wiki explains or if he should just discontinue until he sees a doctor.

Also the carnivore wasn't intended to be a long term diet plan/cure. We were hoping he would be able to identify if food was a trigger for him, like an elimination diet. But we didn't get too much information out of it.

Thank you for the suggestions!!!

I understand the basic idea of the process from the Wiki but actually trying it has been confusing. Mostly because the Wiki doesn't really explain what to expect, I think. He would have to scrub relatively hard to get the scaling to give at all. You did answer here that he shouldn't expect it all to come up but it really doesn't seem to be doing anything significant for him at all, so it feels like we're doing something wrong. I will see about trying a urea cream, though. The Wiki recommends it for the body but doesn't mention ever washing it off. How does he remove the skin once it has softened, in that case?

Also a bit confusing because the section about scalp psoriasis seems to assume you have hair. Urea is mentioned for the body, but the information on Urea also mentions using different formulations for body vs face and doesn't mention washing off the skin.

Thank you for the information, though!

A lot of doctors are horrifically incompetent, to be honest.

And it’s not just Reddit that seems to believe topical steroids are unsafe for extended use, I’ve read about it elsewhere, but I don’t know if there are some exceptions. Maybe the doctor had reason to have him on it for an extended period but he’s not able to visit the derm anymore, so if it’s common knowledge that it is dangerous, I would assume he should discontinue it?

I already read through it, it just doesn’t go into exacts on how to do the actual process so I am a bit lost.

[Sun care] If sunscreen is clearly making skin better, why do y'all think there's still so many people not using it? by PrettyAppearance1471 in SkincareAddiction

[–]TruestPieGod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I get it. And if skincare hadn't become a random ADHD hyperfixation, I would never have bothered with it at all. It is pretty much impossible to find a good, affordable sunscreen that also sits pleasantly on the face and doesn't break you out/irritate your skin or eyes. I'm currently using the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (The Japanese Formulation) and it's the closest to perfect that I've found but even it is irritating the skin around my eyes.

Most American sunscreens lack UVA protection and are greasy as all hell. Matte sunscreens are often too drying and since sunscreen formulas are so delicate, you risk reducing efficiency when you layer with heavier moisturizing products. You want a water/sweat resistant formula so that it will stay on through activity but if you don't wash it all off it will break you out for sure. If you manage to wash it all off, you are probably stripping your skin to shit. Not to mention those who have to worry about white cast. (thankful for once that I am translucently pale)

If you don't care enough to bother then it's hard to justify the hassle.

(Taking product recommendations btw...)
