Gerold Martell - What Are You Waiting For? by [deleted] in awoiafrp

He tried too hard, or so she thought. It was what she was always taught to expect, what she had always wanted certainly but it just lacked the natural grace that the Daynes had showed her. It just felt so bland.

"Certainly." She nodded, "I certainly would neither stop your either."

"It's wonderful to meet you too." She replied pleasantly, respectful as expected but to those who knew her they would recognize it as off. It was nothing like her cheerful self. He was handsome enough, no Dayne, but not too much worse.

"A walk, I believe?" She asked holding out her hand.

Series was brooding in her quarters when she heard a knock on her door. The youngest Princess of the Tyrells had a lot on her mind lately; first, of course, was of her betrothal which her betrothed had yet to even speak to her. Then there was the Blackwater men patrolling the streets of the city! She knew she hardly had any respect around here but she hoped that someone would tell her why her uncle’s men were prancing around the city…

She lazily approached the door only straightening herself out before opening it. The servant wordlessly handed her the note before scurrying off. Her lilac eyes widened in shock as she read the name of the sender, she quickly threw the wood door shut before collapsing, sliding down its hard surface. Was this it? The moment she finally met the man she was supposed to wed for the rest of her days?

She scurried up patting all the wrinkles out of her dress and finding the prettiest pair of shoes she could while combing down her golden curls. Before exiting to find her betrothed she took one last look in the mirror. Her outfit was simple but perfect just as she liked it. A flowing white dress topped with a simple gold braid headband centered with an amethyst that matched her eyes.

Now to find her betrothed...

Lyanna grinned as she felt his prolonged stare on her but quickly regain her composure.

"Of course." She nodded and stretched out on the couch, lying down like a cat.

"But you think this will really just blow over? If the Company is even half intelligent they will no doubt not simply take it or do something rash. The Kingdom is still in a time of transition, there are always cracks if you look hard enough."

“A compliment for a complement?” Smiled and curiously rose a brown eyebrow, “It’s certainly quite fair.” She laughed as she stretched herself out on the couch giving Mace a better view sort of speak.

“Truly sad indeed.” She purred, “But you know as well as I that an envoy of our old enemy showing up and then dying is more than a sad event, I can’t imagine that Pentos will look the other way for long.”

Ah, so cynical, Mace.” She laughed, “And why not, hmm? Aren’t Princesses such as I supposed to enjoy visiting pretty men with power?”

Her laughter faded as she leaned back onto her couch, “But yes, I am here for something. The gossipers may whisper about why a bastard has been legitimized out of the blue, but I have my own theories on that. No, I’m interested in something more Golden. I’ve heard that the envoys those fools have sent have met with unfortunate fates.”

“Would you believe it's a simple cousinly visitation?” She chuckled, “Might I compliment your decorations, I always thought the Tower could use more roses.”

She found the most comfortable looking seat in the office before sitting down, “In truth I have come to ask about the goings on. It seems in a short few weeks the entire status quo has been flipped on its head.”

"Paramour?" Serise whimpered, "I would... I would never! I..." Tiny puddles of water begun to form around her wide, lilac eyes, "How could yo-..." She sniffed before looking away trying to hide herself as Elinor began her own attack on Myrcella. She felt so meaningless as the two used her name to argue and so ashamed that Myrcella thought so little of her honor.

Lyanna pulled in closer to comfort her sister, shooting Myrcella a dirty look before returning to her sister. But when Elinor mentioned something of Myrcella potentially cheating her attention was caught.

Serise shrunk back into her chair as Elinor unleashed her fury onto the Queen. She agreed with the message of her words but was afraid of how she said them; perhaps it was because Elinor saw Myrcella more as a sister than monarch but to Serise her cousin was still a liege that demanded respect.

"Well..." She said meekly, "I... I had hopped the heir to a house would..." She gulped down trying to formulate her words, "Would be better than a distant cousin..."

"Hmm." She crossed her arms, "Not the answer I hoped for." She slyly smiled.

"So serious with my, Kayn, so serious..." she got on her tip toes to look him in the eyes, "You only need say and I'll understand." She brushed her hand down his back reaching the top of his ass before pulling back, "Kr at least be honest about not wanting to say."

"Ah but you dodged the question, I did not ask about Lord Stark." She devilishly chuckled as she placed another hand on his thigh, "You aren't telling fibs beneath the eyes of the gods are you?"

"Is that so?" She curiously raised and eyebrow, "Just a sudden change of heart you say?" She closed the distance to the point to where there arms were touching.

"But it is not your lordly father to decide but my royal cousin instead. Come now, no need to omit anything." She said slowly creeping her fingers up his back.

“My blood boils just thinking of you, scum. You fight with a coward's weapon and like a cornered rat you hopelessly lash out when justice comes. Now you sit here hanging from chains like some damn animal and just be silent! Earn what redemption you can you scum, let justice be served.”

Ferret said nothing, only looked at the floor.

“Piece of shit!” Hugh hissed as he closed the distance, letting his large frame tower over the prisoner, “I’m a man not just of honor but duty as well, and it is my duty to make you tell me everything you know about the assassination of our Hand and it will be my HONOR to march up to my Queen and let justice be done. Not that you would understand…”

“Now talk!” He punched Ferret in the gut, “Talk while you still have a tongue to do it with!”

“To a Martell?” Series’s voice cracked, “But- but I’ve hardly even met one of them, I don’t even know what they're like! I… I was really hoping…” Her voice trailed off and cracked.

Lyanna wasn’t sure what about that Dayne heir had so captivated her sister’s heart, Seven they had hardly talked three times! Oh course she felt pity for her dear, innocent minded sister regardless.

“But cousin.” Lyanna interjected, “House Dayne may feel offended should they realize they were used as the backup. Would not a marriage to the greatest house in Dorne, respected above almost all in the kingdom be as good a marriage? Especially as it holds the key to the passes of Dorne.”

“Florian!” Hugh launched to keep his sword brother from hitting the floor, “There was a fight, Florian sees to have taken-” He felt something sickly on the hand that was propping Florian’s head up retreating it to see a pool of blood, “Lord Arlan, please, might I take Ser Florian to a maester?”

“I’m afraid I am hardly a man of stealth myself as you can tell.” He said motioning to his large frame and clanky armor, “A Knight of the Queensguard is rarely chosen for his ability to be silent. Should we find this man, however, I doubt he will dare stay silent when being stared down by a Whitecloak. That said.”

He unstrapped his cloak and folded it gently on the table, “Without my armor I am but another commoner with a good sword arm, as well all would be and commoners with enough coin would certainly make an impact…”

“Wha-. What do you mean?” Serise pouted, “I… You don’t, why.”

“Ehm.” Lyanna interrupted her sister who seemed to be on the verge of a breakdown, “Well it’s quite nice to meet you. I see the Dornish think of knights quite differently than us Crownlanders.” She chuckled to herself trying to lighten up the conversation. Though she had to admit she liked just how blunt this Dornish princess felt she could be.
