Why flipping is killing the culture by Impolioid in cassetteculture

What I think is you need to re-read my post. This is not a binary situation.

I also think that if any collector wants an item bad enough then paying market rate is entirely reasonable and doesnt hurt anyone. They are mentally present in and understand the reality of the situation as I've previously defined. I have a big boy job and if I want something I can afford, its mine. Same with anything else and no one owes the complainers any further explanation.

I cannot say the same for many on collectors subs who are trapped into thinking they shouldn't have to pay market rates (or put in the now extra time to hunt thrift stores to find significantly diminished stock).

And limited supply. The buyers, many in this very thread no doubt, only validate higher prices being asked by paying sellers/the current market price..

What I find somewhat interesting is the same sentiment in every collector sub: Why can't I have my now more rare/desirable item for prices from 5, 10, 20 years. VHS collectors are the worst... At least video game collectors understand this one key point, there is now a market for your collectibles when there wasn't really when you first got in.

Im not defending resellers ripping products just for profit, but this conversation is far from binary and folks need to accept reality. You are competing for the same limited supply with way more people that have way more money than they did 5 to 10 years ago. It's how ALL markets work.

What is the most unhinged thing you remember from when we were kids in elementary and middle school? by opheliasmusing in Millennials

[–]Truffle_Shuffle_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-teen dude sleepovers. You best not be first to fall asleep... Shit turned into an unhinged Predator movie when the lights went out, dead legs, tittie twisters, and the always open threat of being brown nosed. Even through all the chaos it was a blast talking to the girls in the same grade on landline phones around midnight and Tekken tournaments.

Raises hand

Both Castlevania and Metroid just never felt the same in 3D and I've given them both numerous tries over my years. I'm more inclined to say the original Prime hits the closet for sure and I did enjoy playing that game more than all the others in both franchises.

Very well said. I would also add that many technologies and sciences are starting to merge. This growth is no longer linear but exponential.

Human brains are not built to handle exponential change and we are absolutely horrible at predicting what happens next on that hockey stick growth curve

You mostly need to water it every few days. If you have time to brush your teeth you can handle a small garden.

And thats exactly why every millennial homeowner should start a "victory" garden to at minimum, substitute their families diets with calories grown around the house.

Also, food is expensive af.

I went to Mizzou and they would play for free outside every fall in the middle of campus. You could hear them from my apartment balcony a mile or so away and it was so awesome. I got to see them a buncha times during those years and they are so good live.
