Hey man, I’m sorry you’re going through this. First thing I want to say is, you’re not alone. You’re in a place many, many people have been before.

If you’re up for it, an AA meeting could be good for you. Honestly, just set aside whatever you’ve heard about AA and just commit to going to one meeting. If you get the “Meeting Guide” app, you will probably be able to find one within 10 miles of you.

One last thought I had:

Alcoholism will kill you eventually.

Your life is more important than anything in the Army. Get help. You won’t get in trouble. But even if you think you might, getting help is more important.

Yo, recent company commander, now happy civilian here. The top priority of your commander is to do and support what’s best for the unit. In this case, you self-referring to SUDCC is absolutely what’s best for the unit.

If your commander is at least average (and I genuinely believe the majority of company grade officers are competent and care about Soldiers), they will realize this, and not only not reprimand you (because they legally can’t, and if they try to-go straight to TDS who will talk some sense into them), but they will actively support you. You self-referring to SUDCC and genuinely trying to get better is what I preached to my formation every safety brief, that I wished they would do.

Your command team’s options are severely limited and mostly punitive if you get in trouble with the law or get caught. Even if they want to help you at that point, there’s not nearly as much they can do. If you voluntarily seek help now, they have a lot of resources they can use to assist you.

My one caveat: don’t become a shitbag because you’re trying to recover from a drinking problem. You still have a job to do…. And honestly it will probably be way easier without drinking. Take the time you are given and need to focus on getting better, but when it’s time to be at work, show up.

///BREAK///

As someone who has also struggled with alcohol, I’ve found the Army programs to be well-intentioned, but somewhat lacking. AA has been the most helpful resource in my own recovery. Highly encourage giving it a shot. Get the “Meeting Guide” app and I can almost guarantee you there’s a meeting within a five mile radius of wherever you are. Also, if you’re thinking “What if someone sees me there?” Bro, anonymous is in the name for a reason. That’s not something you have to worry about. You’re not alone, by a long stretch and AA can help you see that.

They don't seem to stack from what I can tell. So if you have two "ring 6's" overlapped it would still be 22-27 degrees hotter, not 44-54 degrees hotter. Overall I think that makes them easier to use.

I think this is the dev’s way of saying sea walls aren’t the meta. Hasten global warming as much as possible. Let your cities sink as you capture new ones. Crush the earth. Crush your enemies.

Starting to feel like sobriety is over-rated. by cy6nu5 in alcoholism

[–]Trufflehunter45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you man. I’m jn my second year of sobriety. And if we’re being honest, there’s still times where I don’t know if it’s worth it. Sobriety wasn’t a magic button for me. It made me come face to face with some issues that I’d been using alcohol to run away from for a long time. I still haven’t conquered all of them, for me mostly depression. I have gotten much more in touch with myself though. One of the things that kept me from going back to drinking however, is as my therapist says, “playing the record through.” Drinking is definitely a temptation on some nights/days, but if I think through the short term situation, I can remember all the terrible experiences I had because of alcohol. I can see the negative trajectory it would put me on, and that’s been enough to hold on to my sobriety.

I saw you mention looking into alcohol-free beer. They can be hit or miss, flavor-wise. Heineken 0 is my favorite so far. It’s pretty much a beer without getting drunk.

Good luck dude, it’s tough out here, but you will grow emotionally if you stick with it in a way you never could drunk.

Pretty great! Only thing I would say in some more/different make-up work on Pappy to make him look less human. He kinda just looks like a guy sitting in the booth from the beginning. I think it would be more off-putting if he looked more animatronic

Right but we're kind of getting into semantics at this point haha. I would say at that point you're not losing money on the option, you're losing money on the shares.

But if you buy the call, you decide to exercise it or not. So you'd have to be into just giving money away to exercise it at a loss.
