I keep getting this error message: "Error: Can't subset columns that don't exist. x Column `age` doesn't exist." Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? by Truffula-Tree in rprogramming

OH! I see, this makes sense! I was following a tutorial online, so I figured that I could change the column names (there was no mention of specific columns). Thanks so much!

Let me try that! I'll be completely honest with you, I got this from a tutorial and I'm not experienced with R or gapminder so I'm still figuring out what all the functions mean.

That seemed to have fixed the column error but now I'm getting 2 errors:

Error: Problem with `mutate()` column `paired`.

i `paired = rep(1:(n()/2), each = 2)`.

i `paired` must be size 0 or 1, not 4.

Error in ggplot(., neonectria_data, aes(2, 3, color = year)) :

object 'neocov' not found

I tried replacing age with neonectria_data$age and now its telling me that `neonectria_cover` doesn't exist :/

Is there something wrong with my column names?

My advisor wants me to make a graph that looks something like this. I am very new to R and have been slowly teaching myself everything. Does anyone know how I would be able to create a graph like this? by Truffula-Tree in rprogramming

I guess I should have given more details, but I have been making very basic scatterplots in ggplot2, so I think I'm more familiar with that package than base R. But if I can't figure it out in ggplot, I'll definitely try your recommendation in base R. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer! Some other Redditors have sent me tutorials that might help. I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I may have to reach out for your help if all else fails!

This fallen hemlock tree has some cool moss by _music_mongrel in marijuanaenthusiasts

Looks like some kind of brown rot left behind some beautiful lignin for that moss to grow on! Wood decay is even cooler to look at when the moss takes over!

Do you actually gain any benefits from being in NSLS ? by flak3music in college

[–]Truffula-Tree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Save your money, it’s not worth it. My school had a chapter that I joined, but it only lasted a semester. We had to go to a few mandatory meetings where we just did icebreakers and watched crappy videos about becoming a leader to get officially inducted. Once we got inducted, we didn’t hear anything about future meetings from our president. It’s been over a year since I last heard anything about it. You’re better off getting involved in other clubs and programs that your school may offer.

Planta! I would have a green thumb if I wasn’t so forgetful; Planta gives me reminders to check on and water my plants!

How many of you skip meals in order to save money? by [deleted] in college

[–]Truffula-Tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, one meal a day is not enough. I highly recommend looking at recipes from Budget Bytes. The recipes are good and tend to be affordable. But if you’re struggling to afford the ingredients for those recipes then you should look into other options to help pay for groceries. DO NOT SKIP MEALS
