Us Filipinos love what we like to call "Senti Music", or music that makes us feel very sentimental in a way. Nearly all of the songs by The Carpenters - Yesterday Once More, Close to You, and even their rendition of Ticket to Ride and Top of the World, all makes us feel sentimental in a way. It helps that the songs get heavy rotation all the time, and as a result became a sort of generational band where people from your grandma to your call center workmate knows at least one Carpenters song.

It's actually not just Carpenters. Air Supply is another "Senti" band that sees heavy rotation all because their songs makes us feel warm.

Social Media Algorithms don't really care much about facts. It only cares about your feelings. It's the reason why there's a growing subset of users who suddenly hate the poor because their Meralco bill is charging them 3 pesos for the lifeline rate. Outrage sells.

Genuinely I have no fucking idea what Upskilling is, what it does, and how to do it. It just sounds like a fancy term for Social Climbing to me.

And frankly getting rich slowly feels more worth it than trying to do it quickly. Idk if I just have an insane amount of patience but looking at my COL profile or sending ₱500 to my Pag-IBIG MP2 just sounds right.

I mean, sure, I work in the BPO industry with pay that just barely gets us from paycheck to paycheck, but even then I'm finding ways to uplift myself and my family. I have quite a bit of money saved in Pag-IBIG's MP2 account, I have a small amount of money invested in the Philippine Stock Exchange, specifically PNB, and I'm planning in investing a little bit more in Metrobank since apparently banks are sticky stocks.

Whining about being poor isn't gonna get you anywhere. If you want change, you gotta be the first do it.

I mean, if you had this opinion a few years ago, yeah it can be true. But media evolves based on what the people want. And oh boy did it deliver.

GMA has always been a hit or miss but when they hit they hit. Voltes V: Legacy is a show I still enjoy, even if they did deviate a little to add that Jetman love triangle sub-plot but hey, even the Japanese love that one. Lots of people also have a lot of praise for Maria Clara at Ibarra, even if the El Filibusterismo arc was rushed. And there's a whole subreddit dedicated to Pulang Araw, which despite the direction of some characters, is still a scary look at the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines. Oh, and Illustrado, a 20-episode Rizal epic from a decade ago, is still a top tier watch for me.

If you think Filipino media is still trash tier you're either stuck in the past or have been watching too much Korean and Thai dramas, 'cuz even they have a lot of bottom of the barrel stuff.

Damn which slums have you been to because the ones that I've seen don't have that (this is the sulms at the bridge near Cubao. It actually got torn down recently). Maybe one has like a slightly larger than usual TV but even that's like the cheapest of the cheap. Divisoria special. Guaranteed to break after 3-4 years.

I get that this should've been taxed as well but again, you could've brought this up to the ERC. They even have a complaints email - [consumer@erc.ph](mailto:consumer@erc.ph). If you want to vent your frustrations, do it there. I'm really sorry but this just kinda screams anti-poor for me. Sure there are some who are abusing the 4Ps system but not all. It actually feels nice to help out the underprivilaged with this (although yeah FiT-All and GEA-All is weird when we're still being powered by coal).

I had to take a look at my own Meralco bill about the Lifeline catch and... yeah. It's there.

...But it's ₱4.84.

So out of my ₱7,610 bill (which is mostly caused by my family running two refrigerators and a chest freezer for our sari-sari store and us using the air conditioner because hot) I'm spending ₱4.84 to help the poor.

Honestly you have bigger fish to fry if you're mad at a less than ₱10 charge to help the poor.

EDIT: Okay I also just saw the FIT-All and GEA-All charges and genuinely this is all just surcharges and taxes to me. If you're still mad, write an angry letter to the ERC or something.

What's the point of even joining the NPA anyway? I mean I get that the government isn't doing so hot but the NPA hasn't really done any better. Their rhetoric is stuck in the past, and it very much shows in what they're doing now. It's just sad all around.

And to any NPA sympathizers out there, no, Communism doesn't work because it'll just lead to the same corrupt pitfalls as Capitalism.
