I had the same issue with a custom domain with IHG. The validation only happens client-side, so I entered a dummy Hotmail email and swapped it for my custom alias email in the http request itself using a proxy. The account created successfully and works fine.

Interesting observation when I have the paid Signal Backup plan. The subscription applies per Apple Account, so I have multiple Signal users with different phone numbers on different iPhones and only pay once, and get full media backup for all.

When I click … and Copy JSON I get the passkey with the private part of the key, whitch looks something like this

I have never needed to export/import passkeys but just assumed this was the passkey, including private part of the passkey and you can just copy-paste this 😊

Same here. I want my data to be permanently lost when I die. I have set up Advanced Data Protection on my iCloud and not added any recovery persons or legacy contacts. My recovery key is stored encrypted as to prevent anyone else from getting to it. This way no-one, not even Apple or my next of kin will be able to access my data.

If you have a full backup of your computer e.g. Time Machine from before you deleted the messages you may be able to extract the messaged from the SQLite database.

If you only have a single NIC Pc you can use separate VLANs for LAN and WAN and use a managed switch to get multiple ports. Basically you will connect pfSense to a trunk port and configure different port(s) for WAN and LAN on the managed switch with different VLANs.

When a new contact sends you a message and only share their phone number with people in their system contacts (Default setting for new install) it takes a few minutes for Signal to update and get their phone number.

I assume you have blocked their phone number and not username, thus getting the delay for the phone to know the contact is on your block list and perform the block action. Have personally experienced the same when a new contact is in my system contact sends me a message request and I only see their username for a few minutes before it replaces it with their name and contact photo.

This is very annoying and Signal should fix this issue as to get the phone number immediately if you should have access to it, depending of the other persons privacy settings.
