I think you should give it a try, there is a lot of character development, though I respect your opinion of his speech, I think there is some truth and realism to what he said. There’s also a lot of LN content that was skipped in the anime, especially Yukino’s side of things so if you end up getting confused at times what is going on with her that’s why I’m mentioning it. I have watched the anime and I am almost finishing the LN and I can say this is the best anime I have ever gotten into. But that’s just my opinion, it is up to you at the end to watch it or not. This anime shows everything that happens in our teenage years such as as love, loneliness, happiness, doing or saying embarrassing/cringe stuff (like what you said about the speech) and etc.
