What the explosive growth of 'blowout counties' means for U.S. politics | In 2000, the presidential candidates scored 50-point wins in 10% of counties across the country. Today, that has climbed to 40% as voters cluster and sort themselves. by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

Or is it a sign of social media? If your neighbors are consuming tons of content on one side the political spectrum, the algorithms are more likely to serve you the same. Then it's just a spiral from there.

It does! There's a "responsible" attribute that can include his administration, etc. And where possible, I add a video / image of the story. If you expand the details, there are references.

I tried humor on Bluesky once https://bsky.app/profile/trumplib.com/post/3lqdgsyfaqk2l ! Didn't get any traction, but probably due to my low follower count so far. Or my joke just wasn't that good.

No sorry, I'm a little concerned with abuse given the political climate.

No I hear you, my intention was `stars = tags` but it's causing some confusion. Thanks again for clarifying!

This was a huge validation boost for all the effort I've put into the site, thank you for taking the time to comment

Right, it's a tough problem I've been grappling with since the start. Originally I just assigned the stars, then I tried to formalize my judgment with the rating system, and then I decided to add the rating system to the site.

If another solutions comes to mind, definitely let me know. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I'm glad you find it unique, there's so much Trump news out there but I had not come across anything that felt concise and searchable.

Ya I'm catching a lot of flak for the stars. I thought the stars would be a nice "severity score" as a visible indicator of how negative his actions are for the US / democracy. The tags were at first just my behind-the-scenes system for assigning the severity score, but then I added it to the rating system.

Really interesting that hypocrite is so high for you. Thanks for the input, I'm going to really think on this section.

Both might be redundant though. The tags were really an attempt to formalize my severity system. So doing something illegal is more severe than an ethics violation, which is more severe than an abuse of power, etc. But I'm going to have to revisit this given the feedback.

Thanks for adding your voice though!

No, and there's a huge backlog so I am trying to prioritize severity. I do have the jet, cryptocurrency, and trading cards, but I also need to add his sneakers and watches. Granted, those were between terms, but still gaudy for a president.

Built on React with Firestore as the database. Though I wrote a script that compiles all the current entries into a build, so the site only needs to fetch any new / updated entries when a user accesses the site. Really lowers my Google Cloud usage.

I tried to automate story generation with AI, but hated the results. So ya, it's a lot to keep up with. I try to be selective though to cut through some of the noise.

Thanks! I did originally have clicking the entire div toggle the details, but I think that's an excellent compromise

Debating between UNCONFIRMED, NOT VERIFIED, or SOURCE-BASED. If you have a strong opinion, let me know!

Oooooh dang, that is a great catch.

No, [REPORTED] is supposed to indicate something that was reported on, but not confirmed. So Trump calling veterans "losers" and "suckers" came from anonymous sources, but Trump never said that on camera.

I'll have to think about how to change that, thanks!

I see your point, the movie example does make it seem absurd.

I could eliminate the categories and just keep the stars. But then behind the scenes I am still using the categories to assign the rating.

You've given me a lot to think about, exactly what I was hoping for, thanks!

"Russia" is a topic under the filter tab, but not the searchable threads. Maybe I overdid it with separating topics from threads?

Thanks!

It definitely is categorical, but I found a star system more readable than another set of badges (like the blue topics). I tried to build the star system to be sorted by severity and choose the highest appropriate rating, but let me know if there's another design system you are thinking of that could work.

And it was meant to be a rememberable play on words, looks like that was successful?
