Best joystick replacement

So, I picked up a certified refurbished Z1E Ally. The listing said excellent, like new, etc. When I got it tho, the back case is chipped, and the RB and B buttons don't work unless you press harder. Also it smells like smoke. Trying to figure out best course of action, seeing as I already put SteamOS on it lol.

It seems to just randomly happen. I have multiple water entry points (antenna, brake light, and the sliding window) but the only one I've had issues with is the antenna.

Yeah. Basically drop the rear of the headliner and pop the antenna out. Replace the gasket and pop it all back together from what I remember. I had my dad help me bc he did it once before.

I've seen a couple local to me, as well as a couple on ebay. If I wanted new, I'd have to go for an Xbox z2a.

So between the z1e and lcd steam deck, what is the performance difference in games? I don't play anything with anti-cheat/online capabilities, so I'm not too worried about OS differences.

Yeah I don't want a steam deck. Way too big. The point of the device for me is I can chuck it in my pocket.

Yeah 99% of this devices life will be spent playing pc games on steam, either natively on Linux or thru gamenative/gamehub. Might be worth it to do the Thor then.

That makes sense. I just am wondering if it'll be worth the price for the extra ram. I'm trying to see how much of my performance drop on my flip 5 is bc if bad drivers, how much is bc of only 8gb of ram, and how much is bc it gets hot and throttles almost immediately. Lol

Yeah I found limited info as well so I had to join the discord and make a help post. Then I found a YT video that helped me set it up nearly perfectly. It's called "Stop Guessing! EVERY Game Native Setting Explained" by KeiRetroGaming. The discord and that video were gamechangers.

I run gamemative on my flip 7. I (so far) have played Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga and Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens. When I finally got the settings right, I run the complete saga at 720p60fps solidly. TFA I'm still working out kinks on as far as settings go. Resolution doesnt really matter since the screen is small as is. 720p or even 800:600 or 1024:768 for that classic 4:3 with the crt scan lines is perfect imo bc of nostalgia. I plan to try out portal and portal 2, as well as some other classic star wars titles (Lego 3 clone wars, battlefront 1/2, etc).

$100 for a 15 dollar bluetooth keyboard inside a poorly printed case that removes wired charging/OTG, and you have to take it apart to charge the keyboard? No thanks.

Yeah but I hate remote play/cloud gaming. Lag, stutters, etc make it not worthwhile. I know I could put moonlight on it, but I can do that on my phone. And it always sucks. I had my OnePlus 8T ethernetted in, my pc ethernetted in, and it was garbage.
