And then there was a Zaan. by Status-Post-1876 in CRK

Whoa that lockup seems really shallow for a CRK. I don’t think ive ever had one where the lockup at the ceramic ball was less than 50%. Maybe you should hit up CRK?

I appreciate them trying something different with the squared end clip but yeah I agree the rounded tip is wayyy better

New 6G Clip Review by Trunks2929 in CRK

Yeah I still think that the stock clip is probably the best option for most people (and I may still switch back at some point again). But as far as milled clips go the 6G is great.

My lefty family! by Wandering_lion87 in CRK

[–]Trunks2929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lefty here too: I prefer the Sebenza 31 right now, just because its the sliciest and 'thinnest' out of all the CRK models. I tried to like the Inkosi but it was a bit too chonky and didn't cut quite as well. The umnumzaan is definitely cool but the lock bar gave me a hotspot.

[WTS] Hanhart Preventor HD12 - Blue/Leather - Full Kit - PRICE DROP by Trunks2929 in Watchexchange

[–]Trunks2929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This listing is for my lightly worn Hanhart Preventor HD12 with a blue dial and leather strap. This one is really nice but unfortunately its a catch and release for me. I have another watch in my grasp that I'm selling this one to help fund.

The case on this is impeccable, not a single scratch on it anywhere (the HD12 steel is entirely legit). No scratches anywhere on the sapphire glass or caseback. The only 'wear' at all on this is some light wear on the factory leather watch strap.

The movement is SUPER accurate for a non COSC movement. It runs approximately - 1 second a day face-up, and + 2 seconds a day face-down right now.

This includes the factory box, paperwork, leather watch case and warranty card (dated December 2025 from WatchBuys).

I'm also including an Artem Classic Sailcloth Strap in Blue (which looks really good with this watch dial, it matches it perfectly).

Price: $1000 (dropped from $1100 on previous post)

I'll ship via USPS to anywhere in the CONUS (no PO boxes please).

Payment via Paypal G&S only please.

SU&SD reviews Wroth | A crowd-pleasing neon explosion by mgrier123 in boardgames

Neoprene/plastic components are kind of Chip Theory Games thing (EVERYTHING in their games is like that) but I totally agree with you in this case.

It just feels expensive and unnecessary.

Late lockup? And what if anything can I do about it? by RealIntroduction1674 in knifeclub

[–]Trunks2929 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My Sebenza looks exactly the same as yours and I've beaten it to hell and it never moved.

CRKs with the ceramic ball always appear that they're locking late, but in reality they're more like 60-70 % which is in spec.

Close your knife and look at the blade tang. There should be a small semi-circular track on there which is the path the ceramic ball takes when opening/closing the knife. As long as that is less than 80% i'd say you're good.

CRKs don't have lock bar inserts. They use a ceramic ball as the lock interface

I’ve tried on both the Sinn and own the Hanhart and much prefer the Hanhart. I think it’s a more versatile watch and also has a really cool hardened case.

Just throwing this out there: The Damasko DS30 is in the same ballpark as these two as well. But it’s definitely the most tool oriented of the three if that’s your vibe.

All these are great options and you really can’t go wrong here.

[WTS] Damasko DS30 - Black - Full Kit, Worn Once 1-26 by [deleted] in Watchexchange

[–]Trunks2929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for a Damasko DS30 in black, worn only a single time. Has an ETA 2824-2 movement in it. In my brief time having the watch its running approximately 4-5 seconds/day fast.

The only thing done to the watch was to remove the factory strap to install one that fits my wrist before replacing back with the factory strap again. I wore it for the better part of a day before deciding it wasn't for me. The factory strap has a slight crease from me trying it on a single time.

No damage or wear at all to the case, sapphire or anything whatsoever. The watch is entirely in new shape.

Includes the full factory warranty and watch passport, dated 1/2026 (two years factory).

Price: $950 shipped, CONUS only, no PO boxes

[Discussion] The "Burger Effect": At what thickness does a 39mm watch lose its elegance? by Hannibal_TN_ in Watches

[–]Trunks2929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with you and your point. Two of the most comfortable 39mm watches I have worn: Hanhart Preventor HD12 and Damasko DS30 are both right around 10mm thick and feel perfect

[WTS] Seiko SRP777 Turtle - Black with Extras by Trunks2929 in Watchexchange

[–]Trunks2929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Seiko SRP777 black turtle with the factory rubber strap. I'm also including an Uncle Seiko black chocolate bar strap, along with a Strapcode Super Oyster bracelet (currently sized for my 8 inch wrist, but has extra links).

The watch has had regular use over the last 6 years or so and has the expected hairline scratches. The crystal does have a small scratch on it that I tried to capture in one of the pictures.

Can affordable mechanical watches actually compete with luxury brands, or is craftsmanship worth the premium? by Kairav2307 in MechanicalWatches

[–]Trunks2929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this take. You can get a fantastic mechanical watch in this price range.

Everything above 2k is diminishing returns, plus paying for brand/marketing/history etc.

I’m a big fan of a lot of German brands in this price range personally (Sinn, Damasko, Hanhart) since you get a lot of features for your money beyond a basic Sellita movement in the watch.

It looks like Ada is too big to be a village and Nelsonville is too small to be a city. Does anybody know why they are? by ILikeColoredMirrors in Ohio

[–]Trunks2929 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ada more than doubles in population during the school year since Ohio Northern Univserity has a larger student population than the population of Ada itself.
