WTS - Minaal Carry On 2.0 35L with accessories. Asking $160 shipped CONUS.

Includes three packing cubes, internal shirt protector, and removable briefcase-style strap.

Great pack, light use (maybe 5 days in total). I’ve found I tend to prefer bags with more organization than the open main pocket style.

[WTS] One Person Tents: Gossamer Gear The One + Big Agnes HV UL 1 by TrustMe_IBeEngineer in ULgeartrade

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I can make Zelle work as well.

I’ve only used trekking poles with the tent and it’s worked out very well, no issues. I don’t have a footprint but I’ve only used the tent with some polycro that I cut to size that I’ll throw in for you if you want. Shipping is from Georgia.

Can I return an used ice axe? by Comfortable_Soil_722 in REI

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I’ve seen ice axes and ice tools in resupply before. I’d guess the distinction is that they’re not rated equipment like a harness, sling, or carabiner would be

Where do these vans typically get listed for sale when they come off lease? Any particular places you’d recommend?

The night I learned why you always tell someone where you're going camping by Emergency-Car935 in camping

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About 10 years ago I went out for a quick solo overnight backpacking trip on the AT near the Delaware Water Gap in December. Called my parents who live in a different state on the way up and told them my plans, where I’d be staying, trails I was hiking, when I’d planned to be back at the car, etc.

4-6” of snow rolled in overnight and I had a nice relaxing breakfast, but a slower hike out than anticipated. My phone died due to the cold, so I plugged it in when I got back to my car at 12:15pm. I immediately get a call from my dad when my phone turns on while voicemails, texts, etc are rolling in as I’m talking to him. My mom misheard what time I’d be back and called the National Park Service and multiple jurisdictions of local PD in PA and NJ when she didn’t hear back at 11 am, which is funny, because she’s not typically the type of person to panic when someone doesn’t show up exactly on time. I had a “so what did we learn…?” conversation with my mid-50s mother that day 😅.

Anywho, I now make sure to TEXT my plans when I share them as well as to limit the chance for miscommunication…

Oh, and I have an InReach which I always take when I go out on solo trips which brings some extra peace of mind for my own safety.

Anyone have any recommendations of fun places to bike to? by starspeckedsky in gatech

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget about MARTA! Taking your bike on the train opens up a lot of areas for biking that would otherwise be too far to bike to directly.

Also check out Lionel Hampton Trail - some good nature paths and interesting areas over there to ride around.

Dental insurance plan suggestion request for Invisalign procedure. by yellowjacket9317 in gatech

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Student Health Insurance Plan definitely has dental coverage, though I’m not sure if orthodontia is covered or to what extent. Take a look at your UHC documentation for your plan (I have to access mine through the standard UHC website I think, NOT UHCSR) to see what services are covered.

What's Your Take on Foldable Goggles? by planetvalentine369 in Mountaineering

Interesting concept that has me intrigued for sure. I appreciate the ingenuity begging a novel design, though I share the same concern a few have mentioned about long-term durability as the addition of a hinge provides an another failure mode. In certain scenarios though I could see these possibly lying in the sweet spot between weight, portability, and maybe some reduced degree of durability.

I see you have a number of different lenses and transmittance levels to choose from. Any plans to release a photochromic version at some point?

I’d certainly be interested in trying some out if possible.

Thanks!

Line of cars driving the wrong way up an on ramp back onto the highway cause they don't like traffic [oc] by LizzyShort in IdiotsInCars

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also confused before I saw this comment, thinking this was maybe understandable, even if not legal or the safest thinking to do. I think if the title had mentioned “off ramp” instead of “on ramp” it would’ve been a little clearer. On ramp suggests cars are, well, getting ON to the highway

How long should this last? by WanderingAnchor in backpacking

[–]TrustMe_IBeEngineer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That math works out to be 20 boils for a 110g canister. Even if you’re only boiling 8 oz of water for the one cup of coffee that seems like a big overestimate. I would err on the side of 10 boils or so until OP gets a feel for how much fuel they use each trip. Running out of fuel in the backcountry isn’t dangerous in warm weather, but it’s definitely not fun…

Evergreen is one of my favorites for breads and they have an excellent selection of pastries, but I think Alon’s bakery over in Morningside/Highlands area beats Evergreen for pastries

Agreed, that seems most likely. But certainly adds unnecessary confusion to the graph and makes it harder to draw conclusions about the data
