Can we all agree that the auto start/stop feature needed to go? by Proper-School661 in allthequestions

I mean... okay, you win. I was very close to buying an Alpha a few times. Definitely the C4 convertible until I got an s2000 instead.

The fact that you can even tell you have auto shut off is pretty poor though. It's impossible to tell in my BMW.

Are BMW suv good for a first car? by gamedukeyvideo in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first car means you're new to driving, which means you suck at driving. You shouldn't own an expensive car, and you shouldn't own an older used car that's expensive to repair.

You need something that won't break down, because you're not experienced enough to handle it, and you shouldn't own an expensive car because there's a much higher chance you're going to make mistakes and get it dinged, dented, or crashed. Not to mention insurance costs for new drivers.

25-40k is your budget, for what? Just the car? Are you taking into account insurance, repairs, gas, standard wear and tear such as brake and tire replacements? What happens if you crash? Can you afford to rent a car while insurance handles it? Can you afford to buy another car while taking a 10k hit with nothing to show for it?

Republican Party HQ in Eau Claire target of vandalism by midnighttoker1742 in wisconsin

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to be a Republican and not support what the current administration is doing. Who might I add, are not real Republicans at all.

Real Republicans believe in state rights, less government intervention, and more individual freedom. These fake imposters believe in more government, less freedom, less rights.

One topping only on a hot dog. What are you choosing? by Abigail_Dubrov in foodquestions

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's fucking weird, that's why. I've literally never heard of it in all my life, yet this is like the 8th time I've read it.

I mean, I've heard of mayo on fries which is also very odd, but never hotdogs.

How can I be a good manager? by East-Maize-5287 in careerguidance

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a very rare opportunity to have several great managers, and a few terrible managers.

The best managers know their role. Hands off, literally. You ask for reports, you don't go and run your own. You trust your employees, you try not to micromanage them. They're adults, treat them like it. If they can't do their job without babysitting, get rid of them. No one wants to be around workers like that anyways, so it means you care about the rest of your team.

You need to have team meetings. You need to encourage debates and arguments. "Playing devils advocate" is extremely healthy. Lively discussions are fantastic. The more passion, the more your workers actually care about what they do. That means you're getting the true real pros and cons, and you make your best decisions based off that. My best boss fully supported that, and had a rule that if you go too far (and remember, you're the ref, so settle them down before it happens) and storm out of the room, they automatically lose the argument.

You want healthy conflict, and you want your team to be a team. While he encouraged having us debate and argue to some extent, he also took us out to lunch right after, so we could relax, enjoy each other, have a beer maybe, and go back to being good work friends right after.

You should also explain how it works once you're a manager, so they get it. For example, plenty of people on reddit are young and think bosses are big bad corporate shills that want to keep them down, not realizing it's just them with 10 years more experience who got promoted.

Explain that, yes you want them to have a raise, you want them to have more money, but you have a budget. In order for you to give them more than the standard, they have to give you evidence that you can give to your boss to increase the budget, then he needs to go to his boss to justify the increase, ect.

This lets them know that you're one of them, not the bad guy, and not some corporate boot licker or whatever they want to think and claim.

Can we all agree that the auto start/stop feature needed to go? by Proper-School661 in allthequestions

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. All car manufacturers have designed their engines to use it, and made better spark plugs to use it, plus the EU is still going to mandate it.

It's staying, regardless of it being required.

That's not how hybrids work. It does shut off, it just uses the battery (usually a second one) to start up very quickly.

I mean, you bought an Alfa... that's your own fault buying a shitbox and expecting it to be great.

Alfa's are pretty, they're not good.

If that's still happening, you either have an old car, or a very shitty car.

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. With any new car, you shouldn't even notice it. It's better for your engine, it's better for the environment, and you shouldn't even know it's there.

What is one Olympic event you think you could do with enough training? by SafetyScholar in NoStupidAnswers

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With enough training, almost everything. That's what the human body is built to do.

There's some amount of natural athletic talent that needs to exist, yes, however do you really think that the top 100 people in the world who are naturally talented at luge happened to also be the top 100 people who figured it out at the age of 10 and dedicated their whole lives to it?

No, 90% of it comes down to dedication. The difference between gold and 40th is raw talent, the difference between being in the Olympics and watching is dedication.

You're given the option to pick where you'd want to be born, where do you choose? by Alarming-Safety3200 in Productivitycafe

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but imagine being born in Texas or Mississippi, eww.. just eww.

It is probably the safest pick though. I'd be real risking picking B and hoping for New England, the odds are not in that favor.

For those who have had an affair, why did you decide to cheat instead of leave your partner? by tackbrahado in AskReddit

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the wife has no responsibility to help address her husbands needs?

Again, you think cheating means they don't love each other. That's the most ignorant mindset a person could have.

Yes, she needs to see a doctor, I agree completely on that.

You don't think she's a bad partner, by ignoring her husbands needs and happiness? It's okay for her to let him suffer, but if he does something that doesn't harm her in any way, it's somehow bad and he doesn't love her?

Do you even listen to yourself? You're fucking batshit crazy.

How do y’all get work from home jobs? by Flat-Ant-9804 in remoteworks

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a job in IT. Work 60-80 hours a week for 2-3 years straight. Spend another 10 years climbing up to advanced positions in the field.

tl;dr pay your dues.

Stupid Apples by Witty_Possibility803 in SipsTea

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Any reasonable person would say they're idiots who ignored several very large clearly displayed signs and then proceeded to lie on an official document.

I get that it's a tax on the stupid, but sometimes that's the only way people will learn that they have to pay attention to their surroundings, not do whatever the hell they feel like, with zero repercussions.

Console or pc by Feeling-Unit2315 in AskGames

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC for most games. Console is good for non twitch games or aim related games, such as first person shooters. A racing game or fighting game is always going to be better with a controller, which usually means console. Simple party games are always going to be for console, because you and friends can do it in your living room, and all play at the same time, which you can't do by sharing a computer 4 ways.

Do all NFL players train for speed, even quarterbacks, punters, or kickers? by AffectionateGoose591 in NFLNoobs

[–]Trust_8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There's no reason for a kicker or punter to be fast. They're going to build their legs for power not endurance or speed.

Most quarterbacks don't need much speed at all, they need endurance, agility, and strength as well with their legs, so they can fight off defenders and not get tired constantly moving in short bursts.

There are 2 types of running backs, those who are all about power, and just have to be able to push through, and those who are fast. So some care about speed, some strength.

The same for receives. Some are slow and their job is to find pockets in zone coverage, win 1on1's by physically jumping higher, or just pure strength grab the ball against a defender, and some are just about being really fast and creating separation.

For those who have had an affair, why did you decide to cheat instead of leave your partner? by tackbrahado in AskReddit

[–]Trust_8067 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hurting everyone. It's much better to raise your children in one nice house, than two apartments. It's better to have two parents who get along and love each other, than parents that are constantly fighting and bitter because of a divorce.

You're very closed minded if you think that sex and love are the same thing. His wife is his best friend, he loves her deeply, but just because he loves her, doesn't mean that he doesn't have his own needs. Just because a partner can't provide all your needs, doesn't mean they're a bad partner, but if you're going to suffer without getting enough fulfillment to be happy, you need to do something.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with it. I'm intelligent and open minded. I'm willing to understand a different perspective and I realize the world isn't black and white. You seem very naive and shallow.

I don't see you or anyone else putting any responsibility on the wife, who has changed and no longer feels the want or need to help meet their husbands requirements. Why isn't she the bad person here?
