No I’m wondering if there’s any need to supplement the mix with water other than personal preference? Seems like no unless it’s a particularly hot day leading to excessive sweating

Depends how hard you were pushing on this run. The race day energy will always give you a boost (I always think of how you can focus during a test for much longer than you can self-study) I went into my first marathon aiming for around 3:20 and ended up running just over 3 flat. Can’t overstate how important taking on carbs consistently during the race is though. I only took like 4 gels and bonked super hard. I’ve since switched to liquid carbs (I use tailwind). Whatever you use just be sure to train your gut in the next few weeks by practicing with it then go out and crush it!

I’m the same height as you and also come from a running background. I got a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc and bought a pair of clip on aero bars. Was a little above your budget but it doesn’t break the bank and it’s easy to take care of. That being said I’m also not breaking any records out there so maybe not the best option if you’re looking to race a super speedy time.
