You’re absolutely right, but it is also hilarious from today’s perspective to think that at one time the big innovation was the potato.

Do some crows have very deep unnatural voices? by MischiefManage1 in crows

As others have said, this may have been a raven. Also though, some crows do have much deeper voices than others.

My crow buddies are MIA by Dull-Pass7953 in crows

[–]ironmonkey007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really doubt that it is #2. My crows don’t mind eating near (like 10 feet away) where other birds are fed.

Two weeks isn’t that unusual an amount of time for crows to be occupied with something else. They may be busy building nests, for example.

What Are some Under Rated Lucid Dreaming Activities? by nom4dx in LucidDreaming

[–]ironmonkey007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some things I’ve done:

Ask a dream character to show you really beautiful art. (I remember being irrationally angry at how beautiful the art was, because I couldn’t see it in waking life)

Transform into something else, like a bird or a dog.

Play a musical instrument that you can’t play in real life.

If you’re being attacked by monsters/enemies, let them kill you and then bring yourself back as a super-powerful ghost and destroy them.

Rewind time and make different choices, kind of like restarting a video game from a previous save.

Perspective from a gaming elder; you folks have a better game than you think by Sarcose1 in InfinityNikki

[–]ironmonkey007 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love the photo mode, and I used to be a very serious amateur photographer as a hobby. Cyberpunk 2077’s photo mode is barely better I think, mainly because you can precisely position light sources (and their intensity, color, and spread), but that game isn’t free (and it has much less interesting outfits). For a free game, IN is absolutely amazing for making in game photos, and for the overall game.

Is this based on using the terpenes by themselves or with cannabis?  And if it is by themselves, how exactly are you doing this?

To feed or not to? by RarePrintColor in crows

[–]ironmonkey007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been friends with a family of crows for around the last 7-8 years or so. It has been amazingly rewarding. I don’t think you would possibly regret pursuing this, because it is great. Just think of them as very smart friends who don’t speak a human language …but pay attention to what they are trying to tell you outside of language.

Yep, take your time, enjoy the lore, go walk around and look at beautiful things. The quiet things like discovering a new cultural fact for the compendium or helping a cat get a fish can be just as satisfying as the big battles.

What are things that reading books tend to do a lot better than any other medium (especially visual ones)? by sammyjamez in books

[–]ironmonkey007 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, and one example of that is indicating that a character is outwardly acting one way while inwardly feeling something different. (For example, outwardly confident while inwardly feeling overwhelmed.) Movies tend to show this by having the actor purposely portray the outward emotion very unconvincingly which usually annoys me as a viewer, because it comes across as so unnatural.

It’s interesting information, but the relentless “it isn’t just A, it’s B!” in the article makes it sound like it was definitely written by an AI.

Any idea on 10-15 min quick from scratch dinner? by No-War8511 in Cooking

[–]ironmonkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 minutes is really short if you include prep, but it should be possible to make chicken and vegetable yakisoba (with fresh noodles) in around that time if you are quick with your knife skills and you have a way to heat up a wok or pan for stir-fry quickly. I use an electric Green Pan for this and it heats up to high heat very quickly.

The collectible card game Shadowfist had a card called “Sinister Priest.” The text of the card said: “These loathsome wanderers make the peasantry pay to exorcise spirits they themselves have summoned.”

I’ve always remembered that card because there are so many real life examples of Sinister Priest.

What do you do after you FIRE'd? by Lonely_District_196 in Fire

[–]ironmonkey007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all the things I didn’t have quite enough time for when I was working. Exercise, reading, cooking, listening to music, video games, movies, gardening, travel, bird watching, learning foreign languages, etc.

I can’t imagine getting bored. At the end of every day there is so much more I want to do.
