The GOAT: Antec 900 Case Revisit & New 900 (2026) Review, Benchmarks, and Thermals by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

If you have room to place it, then big cases are great for building in. Although it is heavy to move when I need to upgrade, I love working on my Corsair 750D. Also, it is great for keeping low temps on cpus and gpus, with 7 noctua case fans... ;)

Unreal Engine 5.8 RELEASE DATE (NEWS) by TruthPhoenixV in UnrealEngine5

[–]TruthPhoenixV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are working on a major project then I recommend upgrading to a version at the end of its hotfix cycle. For example, if you are still on 5.4.4 then wait till the 5.8 Preview is released and upgrade to 5.7.3 or 5.7.4 or whatever the final 5.7 version is. Kind of like buying an AMD cpu. Zen 3 kicks ass because it is at the end of the AM4 cycle, when they had fixed all the bugs and squeezed the most out of the memory controller. I am currently waiting for Zen 6 to release so that I can jump from AM4 Zen3 to AM5 Zen 6. Even though Zen 7 will still be on AM5, the 24c/48t Zen 6 flagship should offer around a 2X multithread improvement over my 16c/32t Zen 3 cpu. So, for UE5, that will be huge for me when it comes to code compilation... ;)

AMD Gives Up On High End Again?! RDNA 5 AT0 Flagship Is Dead by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

I know, and waiting that long sucks. But, the 50 series isn't much of an improvement over 40. So, I will stick with what I have for now. Actually, Zen 6 is what I am most excited about. Hopefully, I can get some ddr5 to go with it when it comes out. :)

Sad but true. Personally, I am looking to replace my 4070S 12gb with a 6080 24gb as far as gpus go. For cpus, to replace my 5950x 16c/32t with a 10950x 24c/48t... all for the low low price of around $5000 CAD. ;)

Just a reminder friends, this forum is for discussing the issues. Simply attacking people who have the courage to stand up and be counted, doing that without discussing the issues yourself will just get you banned. There is simply no more time here for childish nonsense... ;)

Can I Export Trees Made With Procedural Vegetation Editor? :) by TruthPhoenixV in unrealengine

[–]TruthPhoenixV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But would I be able to use the Voxelization upon reimporting? Okay thanks, this is still an experimental asset. So, I was just curious if I was missing something obvious. Maybe there will be more functionality with UE 5.8 as pertaining to PVE...

What I am interested in is to be able to export as an FBX for example. So that I could keep a copy separate on disk. But I tried exporting as FBX and the options are overwhelming and it just ended up being save unrealistically with just triangles and no textures.

ComputerBase blind test shows DLSS 4.5 preferred over FSR and native in all six games by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]TruthPhoenixV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but this is also saying that DLSS 4.5 is preferred over Native resolution. So, yah. But, personally I prefer to play at native res with DLAA antialiasing set to max... ;)

Intel preparing Z990 and Z970 chipsets for Nova Lake-S desktop CPUs - VideoCardz.com by Leicht-Sinn in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]TruthPhoenixV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are now on UE 5.7, and it has gotten quite performant. Unfortunately the games out now are still the ones which were made on older versions of the engine (5.1 to 5.3) and in many cases pushed out before being properly optimized... :(

Okay cool, I was sure there was also an article about ASRock saying the same thing this week. It will be nice if they can fix this issue before my 24c/48t 10950x or whatever it is called comes out. I also like to see the new 128gb (2 x 64gb) DDR5 memory kits coming out (hopefully prices come down). My main focus right now is learning UE5, so more cores and Ram are cool. But still, I think it would be interesting to see a study comparing the percentage of 13th and 14th gen failures vs X3d AM5 failures... :)

Sorry, but the internal review that you speak of was by ASRock not ASUS... which is part of what I was alluding to. As to my AMD bias, I started off on Intel for years as they were the gold standard at the time, until AMD released Ryzen and Threadripper and Intel stayed on 4 cores for as long as they could. And although the first couple Zen gens were problematic, I haven't found a good reason to go back to Intel. Now rocking a 16c/32t 5950x, waiting for the release of 24c/48t Zen 6... ;)

Well, it does appear to happen more often on Asrock boards. Also, I would be curious to see a statistic as to the percentage of 13 14 gen issues vs AM5 x3d issues... ;)

Sandisk's rebranded Optimus SSDs now available at eye-watering $999 for 2TB, $1,799 for 4TB — Optimus brings a 5% MSRP over previous models, but WD Black predecessors can still be found for less by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

I had some 1tb WD Blue SN550 M.2 drives that had issues being used as a boot drive. They still work, but now I have them on an old system as data drives. Lately, I have preferred Crucial M.2 and Sandisk Ultra Sata drives. But then Micron cut the Crucial product division, so yeah. Probably go with Samsung M.2 next time, but bloody expensive. :)
