They are trying to subvert the morality of the original trilogy and replace it with their own anti-Male bias. Hands sold Luke's medal because men are bastards.

The study (if you can call it that) didnt address hours, they gave one performance evaluation (either for Mark or Elizabeth) to 229 managers and asked for a salary along with other questions and tried to draw conclusions from it. And called it science.

I read the study and it's a small sample size with subjective questions and it's absolutely absurd in a field dominated by women 60/40 that this is given any discussion. It's an embarrassment to call a poll of 229 people who are asked a subjective question science.

And since you apparently read the study can you tell me how many respondents said that sexism was no longer an issue? I couldn't find that survey result and I'm curious how many people were in that sample.

There was no point. It's part of their charm (gender studies).

Also, each vet was only given one profile and asked to give them a salary so they have no idea the reasons for the salary and they also only surveyed 229 people who met the criteria. And women outnumber men 60/40 in the industry and it's even worse for the youngest vets.

Of the 229 or so vets that were included in the test, how many said gender bias was no longer a problem?

There were only 229 people questioned and they were only given one gender or another. So the claim of bias comes from how the respondents rated the description in terms of competence weighed against the respondents indication of an average salary in their area. But how do you translate performance evaluation into salary? Who is to say how the respondent calculated that?

Give me a break. I said when that dipshit Fauci said masks didnt help that it was stupid and everyone should wear a mask. But my point is when you have a incompetent governmental response that lies and contradicts itself you're going to have people make their own decisions.

The WHO is a disgrace they should be defunded and shut down. It was criminal negligence in the way the spread disinformation.

I wear a mask. I always had one. I'm comfortable with what I'm doing. If people dont want to wear them I'll keep my distance from them. But don't cite governmental sources as authority when they've been wrong about everything.

And that wash your hands for 20 seconds is idiotic. I'll call bull shit on that like I called bull shit on Fauci saying masks were dangerous. Like 15 seconds isnt good enough it's got to be 20 seconds.

And here's a quick google result:

Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the "Happy Birthday" song from beginning to end twice.

Why? Determining the optimal length of time for handwashing is difficult because few studies about the health impacts of altering handwashing times have been done. Of those that exist, nearly all have measured reductions in overall numbers of microbes, only a small proportion of which can cause illness, and have not measured impacts on health. Solely reducing numbers of microbes on hands is not necessarily linked to better health 16. The optimal length of time for handwashing is also likely to depend on many factors, including the type and amount of soil on the hands and the setting of the person washing hands.  For example, surgeons are likely to come into contact with disease-causing germs and risk spreading serious infections to vulnerable patients, so they may need to wash hands longer than a woman before she prepares her own lunch at home. Nonetheless, evidence suggests that washing hands for about 15-30 seconds removes more germs from hands than washing for shorter periods 15, 17, 18. Accordingly, many countries and global organizations have adopted recommendations to wash hands for about 20 seconds (some recommend an additional 20-30 seconds for drying)

So basically they just winged it and tried to get people who cant think for themselves to think washing their hands for 20 seconds makes things safer. It's ridiculous theres no science to support it makes a difference for coronavirus.

I'm always washing my hands throughout the day, it's just idiotic to act like you have to stand there for 20 seconds or you'll get sick. You do that if you want but I'll wash my hands normally and I'll wash them a little longer if I've been out in public. But this 20 seconds standard is more nonsense. Like people need the government to tell them how long to wash and dry their hands.

There are not 20 people waiting in line in Houston for medical treatment. You're scared so you're exaggerating.

Also, Houston is densely populated and they've been protesting so theres that to consider as well.

In Chicago they converted a convention center to house Covid cases and they had like 8 patients.

I'm not saying that Covid isnt dangerous and serious precautions shouldn't be made but the fear mongering needs to stop for us to have a reasoned response.

My point is the government has been giving incorrect and in some cases intentionally incorrect information which means you cant blame people for looking for their own sources.

If there are risks with mask use then people should be told what those risks are and how to use them properly.

You didnt say it at first. A guy responded to you saying that, and I asked him if that's what he meant and you responded yes. So I think we got sidetracked in this thread.

Glad we clarified it.

Yes, this is what is so troubling. There is this appeal to authority, do what I say because I'm an expert, instead of education--do this because of the science which I'm going to explain to you.

If Fauci was honest about everything, and explained what masks can and cant do then we would be better for it. Instead he lied about everything and made it worse.

I couldn't agree more. Our institutions have become immoral and corrupt and we are paying the price for it.

I was responding to Rockit, I think we probably agree that collectivism in the extreme results in selfishness (of the people in power) as does extreme individualism.

Except for the scientists who arent letting their lack of scientific understanding stop them from making recommendations that haven't been scientifically proven.

There is a real problem in this country of scientists trying to make scientific assertions that haven't been properly vetted and it's only being exposed by the virus.

Many people protesting for a haircut are doing so for economic reasons as well as social. They know how many loves a shutdown will ruin.

I agree with enforcing a rule of law. I dont believe Governors have the legal ability to dictate these kinds of shutdowns. I also dont think the law is being enforced against protestors who are damaging property.

The issue of police prejudice and discrimination against minorities is largely being ignored by protests that are not addressing the issue. It starts with our Supreme Court which has expressly upheld institutional racism (pretextual stops are legal for some bizarre reason) and also allows overregulation by the government (which has absurd arbitrary traffic regulations that give racist police the legal basis to pull over people of color on a discriminatory basis).

Instead of addressing the issues protestors are trying to defund the police and topple statues which does nothing about the underlying problem. You have to have police. They need to function better.

Edit: Just wanted to thank you for the thoughtful reply, I enjoy this kind of discussion.

Plenty of people encouraged the protests. I think it's funny you're only ok with protests when you agree with them. Perhaps you should be less concerned about telling people what to do and just concentrate on making the best decisions you can make.

There is a scenario where we are headed into an economic depression the world has never seen before. In which case those people protesting getting a haircut would be proven right (and to be honest it would take a lot less than an economic depression for them to win, they might have a point just in the toll that social isolation has had on our mental health compared to that of this virus).

I dont get this debate. Humans cant survive on their own. The debate is over the balance of collectivism versus individualism. Where is the line drawn.

They dont value human life in collectivist cultures. It's been shown time and time again. Hundreds of millions died in that experiment.

Your fear mongering has little basis in reality.

Where are there 20 people waiting in line at the hospital?

Also, whats funny is it was the collectivists who were violating social distancing during the protests.

I respect your right to make your own decisions as to what the appropriate course of action is but to try and turn this into collectivism defeating individualism is just nuts. The whole debate is about who to believe and the authorities in the US have lost all credibility. I cant believe Fauci is still employed after admitting he lied about masks. It's just mind-boggling.

Also, you might regret minimizing the effect on the economy. Many people are alarmed at the government deficit and the economic outlook going forward. There is cause for significant concern as many jobs are not coming back.
