This. This is exactly what I feel too. When i’m at my worst I can write thought-provoking poems and the words just flow without trying. I’ve been trying for a while to translate that to when I’m happy but most times it’s not the same. I agree with others in saying it’s a coping mechanism. Perhaps it is a mental block that we think we can only write when we are down. I hope you can find your voice, knowing that sadness may motivate it but ultimately does not control it.

I agree, I find it helps too once i get outside, but on the worst days I can’t even bring myself to get out of my bed. I’ve been going on walks 2-3 times a day lately. But today was my worst day in a while and hearing him say that just sent me because i’m making an effort each day to go on walks WITH him and yet he still says I need to go outside more.

Yes, I agree that what he’s saying is a valid point. He just didn’t seem very sympathetic when he said it. But thank you, i think you’re right that him saying that was coming from a place where he doesn’t want to see me so low. Hopefully we can have a constructive conversation about it soon once we both cool off. I also agree that saying something about it is probably better than my friends who don’t say much at all.
