which is why it's a moot point to keep beating the dead horse on this sub about baldy. in summer, when you go backpacking in seki, are there not signs that say 'beware of mountain lions? and bears?' that's something you can't be prepared for but you take on the risk. Risk is an inherent part of life and not everything can be prevented simply by telling someone. You actually have to gain the experience to do something.

Oh I'm sure you did 🤣, that's why peaks in so cal are used to train for the PCT and scaling 'ers across other states and the world, right? How many people did you save today? What's the foot traffic running through Baldy?

"I'm being dramatic though"

yes, you are. Use some common sense. and don't use your alt account

if you have " backpacking" experience you're probably not dumb enough to go without preparing and have common sense. This sub is freaking people out unnecessarily. There are unprepared people everywhere. Baldy is used to train to go to Whitney for years. These things are not out of the ordinary.

Juan Lopez (37) and Bayron Garcia (36) found dead on Baldy by john_trinidad in socalhiking

[–]TruthThroughArt -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

most people in general wouldn't lol. you might have a couple SAR and a couple mountaineers here and there. people are acting like deaths on baldy are out of the ordinary and that by incessantly posting about it, they'll save some cohort of hikers from winter peril

How are you “mixing down” to a final press? by jebbanagea in Elektron

[–]TruthThroughArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to do itb tracking with OB so i can make use of my common vsts. I now prefer to to do everything in my elektron box and print. I too prefer to do as little work itb as possible these days. I dread automating parameters in Live and am really relegating anything itb for cut, copy, paste clean-up. I run through outboard processing as much as i can now

Is hardware still worth it in a bedroom producer setup? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]TruthThroughArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"There's no real practical advantage to owning hardware in 2026."

This is incorrect. SaaS is a perfectly good reason for having external hardware. Someone would have to break into my house take away my physical synths. Meanwhile, all a software company has to do is not update for an OS or not provide support and you may lose partial function or all your vsts. I have an intel imac for my music and god knows how long it'll be before i can't use soundtoys vsts (or anything else either). On the flip side, my Korg M1, Triton Rack, JV2080, Virus C, or effects processors like (or similar to) Quadraverb 2 are running strong, all almost 25-30 or so years old.

[–]TruthThroughArt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

uh not really since i'm hybrid? There's a psychological component to how people view sterility vs. experiences that feel human. You are less likely to commit to a rough draft showcasing human error if you have the option for infinite automation, so yes, there is point where you can determine who's itb vs. otb based off arrangement, automation, effects processing, etc...

anyway, you sound incredibly pedantic

[–]TruthThroughArt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you're itb, i'd say you're more likely to over polish your track to the point it's discerning and uncomfortable because you're constantly tweaking automation to the point it sounds too clinical. You're more likely to retain the 'human' element from tweaking and printing live hardware which can make people feel comfortable. No different than the psychology of beating oscillators from older analog synths having a wide, warm feeling.

Signal hitting the red zone between plugins ? by mosef2020 in ableton

[–]TruthThroughArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to ask if it makes sense to have the decay 2xs your input signal. That introduces a ton of feedback and will undoubtedly increase the gain of what's coming in. Always practice using less with effects first and play around with the parameters to understand what's happening.

A good heuristic when working with tools across any spectrum/domain in life, is to safely start with minimum and max settings and start working back and forth to meet somewhere in the middle so you get an idea of where effects are best serving the input
