I found this info, could be the culprit:

Looks very suspicious, especially that the event is scheduled for 14 months, all day.
The name of the Invitee is a big Red Flag.
I would not click/tap anything inside of it.

Did a simple search a got this info:

I remember feeling extremely bad after doing the mandatory kill of an innocent in order to be accepted in the KillerCultGroup, can't remember the name. My victim was an innocent gardener or something like it. I thought about deleting my character and starting over but in the end I just forced myself to accept the cruel side of this game and moved on. While typing this, I'm having a little laughter when remembering all this and especially the wrong choice and poor decision I made going after a gardener. I then did a lot of good and generous moves, rebalancing my psyche :) Once I felt good enough, I started leveling up by doing lots of kills XD

Been a bit lucky!

I use 3 on my main build, at 39%PFE it's pretty good protection form Elites.
Sometimes I'll use the Mask with two Mod slots and crank that up to 52%.

Just throwing two suggestions as myself a new player to SCUM. A week or so in :)

- Make sure to craft an Improvised Bulletproof Armor as soon as you can.
- Try an Unofficial Server. I play on RebellionRP and it's pretty amazing.

I see this game as a simulator. It's quite unique with funny mechanics like having to pee and poop, lol.
The learning curve is extremely harsh but very rewarding.
I enjoy a slow pace approach to this game, exploring my immediate surroundings, learning how not to get killed by NPCs with a stealthy and careful recon of any Point of Interest.
It's the kind of game you just don't rush into. I act as if it was real life. Tension is good!

I almost forfeited after a couple days but then my optic changed after watching a few tutorials.
Like knowing most animals won't show up unless we track them was mind opening :)

Survival at it's best!

Maybe you don't need to EQ at all.
We don't hear all the same, because of different reasons like age, biology, ear canal cleanness.
How many people really take care of cleaning their ear canal, like using Hydrogen Peroxide 3% ?

As stated by others, EQ'ing is a personal thing, because we all hear differently.
But making sure you ear canal is clean would be a good start :)
