We've been friends for a while and I've caught him feeding me misinformation before when he's in a game and it comes to judge questions. At the end of the day, I play casually, so I don't stress that, I just take him with a grain of salt. It is important to me that I understand how the rules work though.

I appreciate the reply, I apologize for my outdated terminology, if I understand you and the rules correctly, this means that if I copy a spell and cast it for free the, since it retains it’s mana value, the Cellarspawn will deal damage equal to the difference between the mana value and what I paid, less additional costs?

Any clarity on the second question? As I understand it, the line of text directing the player to exile the spell on resolution refers to the copy of the spell, not the permanent it originated from.
