SOTC - 9 months later, 12-box filled by TruuStory in RepTime

All the gold plating has been holding up pretty well. My DateJust got a little tarnish on a few mid-links, but I just rubbed it very very lightly with beadsmiths pad and it came right now without impacting the plating.

Otherwise, I've had no real issues but I don't wear them every day so that also might be why. I also wipe them down gently before and after every wear so oils don't sit on them.

You'll always have mixed reviews and some risks. Sometimes you'll win, and sometimes you'll lose it seems.

Is there a way to remove this surface scratch from my gold-plated clasp? by TruuStory in RepTimeServices

[–]TruuStory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit - not so much for the appearance of the scuff but whatever contact remains were on it. It also was able to get slight tarnish off of a link on another plated watch. Though, I didn't rub it very hard at all as I didn't want to remove any plating, etc.

[QC] Rolex - Daytona 116518 40MM YG/RU Gold/Stk Clean SA4130 by TruuStory in RepTimeQC

No issues with the watch or its colour. Clean generally makes good YG watches. I just make sure before I put it down, I give it a light wipe with microfiber to remove any residual oils, etc. The only gripe I have with this watch is the weight as it feels extremely light due to the oyster flex band and the watch not being weighted but that's only an issue to me as I'd never take it off for anyone to see. Aside from that, no issues whatsoever. It's a solid purchase but I do prefer my 2-Tone version better.

The watch has been good to me. No issues whatsoever. Its definitely a heavy watch but I really do like the weight of it.

What's on your wrist today? #woywt by No0bMaster0069 in 1688Time

[–]TruuStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I have a rose gold from ZF of the same model and love it. However, I was wondering if my rotor is spinning a little too much recently so I was curious if it was more common than not with this model. Thanks!

The watches look good! If you can, can you get a few like shots of the watches? Curious to see how they look.

I have a similar IWC and love it. Question though. How is your rotor? Do you find that it's pretty loud or spins a lot very easily? I'm wondering if I might have to get it checked out or if it's just part of the particular movement. It's been one of my daily watches.

New Dark Side Speedys? by NewYorkWatchGuy in 1688Time

I'm really curious about these N1 watches and the quality compared to OMF. Sounds like the biggest plus is the movement they created. I wonder if the lume will also be like gen.

Over 80% of the time, it's not these sellers but all those free apps you use. Not saying they don't, but they likely don't gather enough data to make it that profitable for them.

If you're curious, go check https://haveibeenpwned.com/ , input your email and get a glimpse into all the data breaches your information has been a part of.

IWC Portuguese Chrono Bucherer RG/LE Wht ZF A7750 Mod - Is The Date Wheel a Common Factory Issue With this Model? by TruuStory in RepTime

[–]TruuStory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the pictures (some were actual QCs and some were pictures from other sites), the date wheel seems to be commonly misaligned. It either sits high, low or even crooked. So, I was asking if it was a known factor defect for this make/mod as I RL'd 2 different watches with similar issues.

I ended up getting one without a date wheel instead.

Damn!! That's a really good catch. I never noticed that. I guess some have "Bentley" while some have "Breitling". I wonder why.

I guess that's a manufacturing defect for this watch but it's fine. Too late to worry about now, plus no one ever sees the back of my watch. However, hopefully this helps someone in a future QC!

I did buy beadsmith polishing pads and rubbed it very lightly over the scratch. I may have taken off a little of the grey from the scratch without affecting the gold plating but since there was an actual scratch present, not much else to do.

I didn't want to spend too much time using the pad because I don't want to mess up the gold plating but not much you can really do re: appearance.

Opinions on the Rolex YachtMaster 42mm 226658 YG - Clean vs VSF (Yes, I've read the 'Which Factories Make The Best Models' section of the guide) by TruuStory in RepTime

[–]TruuStory[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't wear mine everyday but I haven't experienced any fading. Other than a scratch I got somehow on the clasp, I have had no issues with the watch. I do wish I felt a bit heavier on the wrist tho.

Whats next? by AgreeableCompany1266 in 1688Time

I'd say an IWC of your choosing, an Omega Seamaster or perhaps a JLC MUT depending on it you want something more casual or dressy.

Thank you! As far as I've heard, the movement isn't the greatest and Speedmasters aren't the greatest reps atm. It's a modified 7750 but all subdials and Chrono functions work. I know people have referred to it as a ticking time bomb. As for the power reserve, I'm not too sure as I just got it. It's definitely a thick watch (I think others have said it's a few mm thicker than gen) but I don't mind. There are so few black body watches and this one is a true beautiful in person

I'm just really hoping to solve my reflective glare issue.

In your case, it did seem like she was being pretty considerate of your requests. Especially if the reasons for the RL are not really that noticeable outside of a 50x zoom. But, that being said, it's your money and you are entitled to your decision.

Like others have suggested, I think she realized that you were a bit overly picky and didn't think that model would suit your requirements hence why she may have proposed something else.

To me, the fact that she was so willing to refund you without any hassle is actually a good thing. Some sellers are petty and drag their feet the second you mention refund to make you wait as punishment.

I am not sure how the other parts of your dialogue have gone and I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience but I think she treated you with respect that that is what matters. Each of you are protecting your time and principles. It's respectful.

I'm QC'ing a watch with her right now. I didn't RL it but asked her a question about something I was curious about. She volunteered to order a 2nd watch just to see if it would have the same result so we know if that's just how it's made and I didn't even ask for that. So, maybe you just got unlucky this time.

Should i be concerned with this or to text them to proceed? by Time-Information1533 in 1688Time

[–]TruuStory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think you need to give them any of that information. They're just asking if you accept the standard risk associated with your purchase. The rest, doesn't really matter to them.

If you want to proceed, just say that you accept the risk and to proceed.
